Volant Mill Medieval Solstice Mead
Glass @ Janoski’s. Clean nice sweet perfumy nose. Initial palate I think there is a little bite on this but that fades immediately. Eventually goes smooth and sweet. Yummy. Nice warming effects all round. A thoroughly good local mead experience. Much better than many locally made meads. I liked this stuff. $15 for a small bottle.

Volant Mill Ben's Cider
Glass at Janoski’s. Clear and very pale yellow. Slight apple perfume aroma, nice nose. Apple comes thru right away on the palate. Much better than their George’s cider, JMHO, a little sweeter and less dry, easier to take. Ye, sweet, but never over the top, pretty good overall cider experience. Refined & civilized.

Volant Mill George's Cider
Pours a pale yellow with no head. Completely still like whiskey. Aroma of rotten apples and alcohol. Some nutty oaky notes. Taste is bone dry with a slight alcohol burn. Not too bad for something to sip on but not the best "cider".

Volant Mill George's Cider
Smells like fresh apples, perhaps a little volatile in a tart way. Clear pale yellow, no visible signs of co2. No carbonation on the tongue during the fist uptake, yes, its flat on the palate. Quite dry too, seems like its completely fermented out. Very strong in the alky department but its not unrefined, very civilized, especially when I compare it to my own homemade cider. I was expecting some of that waxy ice cider feel in this but I don’t seem to be getting any of that. Overall, provides quite a kick and some warming mild tartness. Yes, more civilized than my homemade stuff but certainly in the same vain. The volant girls told me this year’s cider was aged in oak barrels.

Volant Mill Pear
From a bottle at North Country. Oh, the bouquet, so enticing. Sweet and fruity perry with little or no carbonation. This stuff is more like ice cider or should I say, ice perry. First taste is reminiscent of that waxy thing going on in the finer iced perries. Easy going, smooooooootttthhhhhhhh. Very interesting overall. A hard to find rare bottle fer sure. So glad to have had a chance to taste this.

Volant Mill Apple
Served at the North Country brewpub. Very clear and almost transparent. Just a slight hint of light yellow. No head and no visible carbonation. Sweet apple aroma. Nearly flat on the palate but there is a quaint tingle that is everpresent. This makes it slightly different from a pure apple wine. Pretty sweet on the taste buds, somewhat mouth coating. Has a rather alky feel to it that shines thru the apple tartness. Quite interesting. Not as enjoyable as other more carbonated apple ciders or wines I’ve tasted. Finish is sweet and lacks any bitterness what so ever. However, that alky bite is something a little more than I expected, leaves you with a warm feeling in the digestive track. Reminds me a bit of Putney Mountain Scott Farm Spy. This pure apple beverage is much better than those wanna be alko pops made by Hornsby and K Cider. Not in the same league as my favorite cider, Fly Creek Original Hard Cider.
