[Bottle from "my good man" at the Bacton Shop, Bacton, Norfolk] Good to find a small village shop next to a coastal caravan park stocking local ales - and the proprietors were exceptionally friendly too! This beer was a reddish-amber, with orange and strawberry coming through. It’s mellow and warming, but rather vague. OK, nevertheless.

Bees Stripey Jack
Cask. Small & creamy lasting tan head atop a deep, slightly particulate opaque brown body. Quite oxidised. Red berries, port, prunes on the nose. Similar again on the palate with a bit of apple and a subtle fruit skin bitterness in the finish. An ever so slight roastiness running throughout. Medium body with a lingering sourness, soft mouthfeel. Beyond its best I think it’s safe to say.

Cask (gravity). Fine, loose & disappearing bubbly white head atop a clear copper-amber body. Caramel, hint of yeast, orangey mid fruits & toasted malt aromas. Solid biscuit body, some mid fruits, yeast and a decent finishing toasty, grassy bitterness. Light to medium body, good length finish, softish carbonation.

Gravicask (Cambridge Winter Ale Festival 2010)
Orangy gold. Slightly sweet aroma, slight milkiness. Pencil shavings and medium roast malts in the taste, again the milkiness rolls over from the aroma. Some grains in the finish. Gets fruitier over time, but does head towards jam - add that to the milkiness, and I think that spells starting to spoil. Nevertheless - tasty as it is.

Cask at the Leicester Beer Festival. This was named the best stout of the festival and it was very good, especially impressive coming from a brewery that’s only been in operation for a few weeks. It’s got a rich palate and a smoky aroma. The flavour is full on roasted coffee and caramel with a delightful smoky quality. Definitely moreish.
