88 Cozy traditional restaurant, old Bavarian look, feels like a tavern stop from old times almost, incredibly quick service. Keller was very solid but there is better in town, Rauchbier on the other hand was luckily amazing condition even if not one to drink more than two half liters of. Traditional heavy on pork food obv. Other members of the company tried and enjoyed it. |
74 Visited in June. Stop #2 of the day, opted to sit outside on their patio. Had a nice chat with some locals at our table. Waiter was in for some fun but still efficient, beers were almost all good to very good, with the Rauchbier as the clear winner. Black, bold and smokey as hell. Food was decent as well, typical German grub but well executed and decently priced. Didn't sit inside but looked like a nice place to drink inside as well, oldskool, lots of wood and beams, you know the drill. Certainly recommended. |

74 W/ SinH4 and jfb. Another classic riverside brewery-restaurant in central Bamberg, classic slightly fancified old school interior, lovely patio. Nicely chilly interior, especially in the middle of summer, but pretty much only the patio was active due to this whole damn Covid thing. Oh well, we certainly weren't complaining. Pro service, doing their job well and efficiently. The Schwärzla was in beautiful shape, and I wasn't complaining about the Kellerbier as well. the rauch wasn't on Schlenkerla/Spezial level, but still good too. Braunbier was on tap I guess. some Kaiserdom stuff in bottles too I think. Probably good for food too. No wi-fi of course. Another place that's well worth visiting. |

78 Visited in August 2019 on a 5-day Bamberg and surroundings trip with Caesar. Beautiful small old street it seems, kind and fiendly staff. Not too crowded when we visited so we could sit outside and pick out a table we liked. Very good rauchbier! Very pleasant afternoon spent here.

94 Didn't knew what to expect, and was so surprised by overall experience. It's nor temple like schlenkerla, nor local cozy corner like spezial. It feels more like functional brewery with dinning areas attached. Nice, wornout corridor, inner room in the building with worn out fechtwerk facade, next to us - doors open leading to the brewery. Its 39c outside, so its nice place to sit next to with chill coming out. They also have a terrace and biergarten. Also what surprised me, is theirs rauchbier. The most distinctive one from whole pack, almost like a smoky dry stout. Must to visit. |
66 2nd August 2018. Sat outside because of the heat wave. Had 4 beers from tap and 1 bottle of Alt-Bamberg, asked for "samples" (aka "not too much") but got more than we could ever drink, and actually got one beer for free. Friendly service, waiter sat next to us when he wrote the check. I guess the food must be good too. |
66 Saturday 8th Sep 2018, afternoon visit. Lovely multi roomed place with plenty of history and wood about. Two beers on tap, Keller and Braun, both in fine order. Staff were friendly enough and left us alone once we said no to food. We sat opposite the actual taps in the room on the right, as you enter from the street. Liked the place, but my score is low because of the beer selection not for any other reason. |
66 Stopped for beers, food and ofcourse the historical location. Had their Kellerbeer and the Schwarz, which are very decent. Food choice was classic Bratwurst with sauerkraut. Place got a little noisy as a large group of Spanish tourists sat down, but it's part of the experience in a town like this. Service was friendly but minimal, good value. |
