| Onenote81 (72), Winston-Salem, North Carolina | | May 3, 2012 Originally reviewed: 11/30/10. Stopped in here to pick up some NG fruit beers for the holidays. Up to visit family for a few days. So nice to see NG all over the shelves around here. What I wouldn’t give to get them down in NC...Walk in the front and the beer is all over the left side of the store. The entire wall is dedicated to good beer. A great selection of singles to make a mixed sixer, lots of bombers, and an extensive list of sixpacks. All the usual suspects were there, Tyranena, NG, Capital, Rush River, Central Waters, etc. Among others were some great bombers from Goose Island and Boulevard. Six packs from too many breweries to name. Nice spot for great beer. All the beer is in coolers as well, which is always nice. Everything is ready for consumption right when you get home. Prosit! | | Dogbrick (423), Columbus, Ohio | | June 1, 2011 (Visited 10/2010): Stopped here while staying in Onalaska on a business trip to La Crosse. The store is located on SR 16 not too far off I-90. There is a large parking lot.
The liquor/beer section is in its own section, with the beer being toward the left of the entrance. Much of it is in coolers, with some on shelves too.
The selection at Woodman’s is pretty good. Brewers like Pearl Street, Central Waters, New Glarus regionally are represented, as are other domestic micros like Rogue, Sierra Nevada and Three Floyds. Some imports are available as well.
Service was pretty friendly but nothing too out of the ordinary for a store like this.
Overall this is a pretty solid spot on the outskirts of La Crosse. | | drpimento (120), La Crosse, Wisconsin | | November 14, 2009 Great place for beer! And wine, and booze, and many kinds of food except a little lacking in the higher end stuff. Prices are great. Service is decent although if you put in a special order or send them a postcard they rarely follow up on it. As for the beer: Excellent selection (especially for the La Crosse area) of import, micro, regional and macro brews. Huge selection of single bottles and six packs, all chilled and ready to go. Also a fair selection of cases and other large quantiies. I assume they have kegs, but don’t rely on that. Also they do carry seasonals and have a heavy selection of Wisconsin products. | | heemer77 (205), Urbandale, Iowa | | May 24, 2008 [ Updated May 4, 2009 ] Visited again an was equally impressed. Nice store, and it seems to have improved in the last year. This place had a nice selection for the area including all of the Pearl Street beers and some of the special edition Tyranena and New Glarus brews. They also had all of the regular WI micro selections. The singles were severely lacking. Nice for the area, but it probably had about half the micros of the Woodmans in Madison. | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | August 27, 2007 Wow! I was shocked. This place was sweet. Bear Republic, DFH, Three Floyd’s, New Glarus, Capital, Sprecher, and Tyreanna was all here, along with some nice imports. I don’t know how often people go to Onalaska, but this is definitely a place to hit if you’re there. | | Optigon (41), Bloomington, Indiana | | July 9, 2007 I’ve got to say, Woodman’s has a spectacular selection of beer. It’s pretty much like a small liquor store sitting in the middle of a big food co-op.
Compared to Indiana, their prices are excellent. This place is a must-stop for me when traveling in the area. | GrainBeltGuzzler (3), Goodhue, Minnesota does not count - explanation | | December 2, 2004 it is sad that a wisconsin grocery has a better variety of beer that any store in southeast MN, a must stop while driving through the area
| | balke13 (22), MIssoula, Montana | | February 21, 2004 Woodman's is a super market with a separate liquor store from the food area. They have an excellent selection of regional micros including all Capital, Summit, New Glarus (all 3 Unplugged beers), Sprecher, Berghoff Beers as well as many others such as a few Bells. Imports include all 3 Chimay's, Fullers, and a slew of others. The service is basically non-existent as it is a grocery store but the selection for this area is pretty decent...it will keep me coming back until i am back in Milwaukee. |
