Beers Of Europe (Beer Store)
GARAGE LANE
“Have ordered online from them about 10 times now. They offer a large choice of mostly bottled beers. A great way of getting Belgium and German beers at good prices. Quite a few traditional UK breweries also available. Other counties can be more limited but there is usually something interesting. There is a craft beer range but much more limited. Good delivery times, well packaged. Website is a little outdated - there are quite a lot of filter options but it gets very clunky. All that means is you have to take a little longer to browse. If I ever visit the store I will update my review.“

“This place has the same owner as Beer of Europe and there is a door connecting the two. However, they have separate licenses as independent businesses. This means that you cannot bring beers from the store into the taproom for onsite consumption. That's too bad, because their beer list was petty dismal - just nine of 16 taps were in use, most were commercial lagers and light lagers, no local beers at all. This was one week after Christmas, so staff said they're waiting for more ber to arrive - a sign that they don't get many local casks or kegs. On the bright side their Christmas beers were St Bernardus Christmas Ale and Bush de Noel. Sit close to the floor. Food was just OK and prices were high, portions smallish, but it hits the spot in a pinch. The place is huge but a bit generic. That said, their outdoor area in front looks like it will be fun in warmer weather, but it lacks shade. Online taplist was up to date when I visited, so you could check beforehand.“

“Huge place is a newish light industrial warehouse style building. Beers are displayed pretty much in a warehouse style too, just long rows of shelved in a cavernous space. Organized by country, then within each country, organized more or less by style. Large selection of ciders, perries and non-alcoholic and gluten-free beers, plus liquor and wine. Staff aren't particularly helpful, but then again I didn't ask them anything. Prices were about what I expected, on the high side but not excessively so - as an example, they had 750s of both Cantillon Geuze and Rose de Gambrinus for 25 pounds. Handful of obscure countries including some from Africa. Two new polotmavies for me. Worth a stop for sure.“

“Have bought from this company for some years-in fact they were the first mail order company I used quite a few years ago.On the down side their internet site is very dated and you have to trawl through it to see if there are any new beers. They use to have a regular update but for some reason they have stopped it. On the up side there is a massive selection far bigger as far as I know than any other supplier in the UK. They frequently have beers that other sites don't-the last box I had delivered had beers from Austria,Brazil, Poland, Belgium and Germany. Prices are as good as anywhere else, and usually better. Their Belgium selection is stunning and very competitive price wise. If you want trendy craft beers at silly prices this is not the place to go. But if you want a broad range of beers and a quick delivery even in these hard times this is the place to go. Just give yourself time to look through their massive selection. “

“Had previously ordered countries I hadn’t rated before and thought it was decent price and quick delivery. Today, finally visited in person. The selection was easily one of top 3 beer stores I’ve ever visited. It was overwhelming, but so well organized (easier to find beer than on RateBeer). Staff was at the ready to help and very comical. I’ll be back online and in person frequently and you should be as well.“

“Моя мечта побывать в самом большом магазе бухла в Англии. А на сей день я был только на просторах сайта. Конечно пива просто огромное количество. Весьма удобно все добавлять на и генерировать твои желаемые пивасы в список. Минус только в одном что многих пивасов походу вообще не будет больше на сайте. Доставка была странная, два раза мне привозили пиво неправильно. Но все остльное лучшее что есть в Англии. Мое уважение.“

“Huge barn / warehouse of a place a few miles south of Kings Lynn on the A10. The selection is vast but I get the impression that the turnover of stock isn't great, plenty in the reduced section so be BB4 date aware. Lots of dusty bottles on shelves. Large selection of Belgian & German beers plus a good sellection from the UK, both trad & craft“

“Ordered from their online store once. Selection is very big and it’s a good place to find beers from countries that aren’t widely available in UK stores. As other people have pointed out, the website isn’t the best. Also the country list is not kept up to date - for example Albania is listed but the beer has been out of stock for months. Delivery is quick and reliable. Will definitely order from them again.“

“Not much that I can add about this place. Having been working my way through the 300 Beers To Try Before You Die book they have been invaluable. However whilst their range is vast, it is a tad mainstream. Was surprised at the lack of Eastern European beers - thought there would be more of a demand. Good prices, extremely quick delivery times.“

“Situated half way between my home and my caravan in Skeggy, Beers of Europe is a regular stopping off point for us en route. It’s pretty much bottle heaven - huge selection of beers with great selection of UK, Belgian, German and US beers with good numbers from maybe another 50 countries. Beer prices are pretty reasonable (if you want to buy cheaper whilst there check out their out of date racks half way down the first aisle), and service from staff is ok. Have also used their online service a couple of times, which is very efficient.“

“Placed an online order for some Orvals and Rochefort 10s because they also did the Rochefort glassware. They were also well priced. Package arrived and it’s probably the best packaging I’ve had for beer and glassware. Website has a lot of good beers well priced. Not so much rarer stuff, but I’ll definitely be a repeat customer when I need my regular Belgian beers.“

“Used this place initially over the internet and found them swift and keenly priced. I have however now been four times to the actual warehouse over the last few years: the latest being on 9th June 2014. I just love wandering along the aisles and finding stuff to fill my trolley. The best selection of UK and German beers I’ve seen in Britain, their Belgian and American choices are also large and interesting. They stock beers from all over the world (not just Europe, as their name might suggest). Spirits and wines too. You are left on your own, but help is there if required. The lighting isn’t too bright so nothing should get ’skunked’ and their stock control system seems to work as they have a couple of shelves with ’out of date’ beers at knockdown prices. Use them on the web by all means, but if you get the chance to visit please do, you will not be disappointed. Posh it is not, but friendly and unique it is.“

“Only online orders for me. Ambiance is rated 3 as average as I have no idea honestly. Service is rated high as these guys shipped fast, bomb proof and shipping was quick. Selection is very good with some real gems, sometimes out of stock though. Value is quite good for UK I think. Some international bottles can be steep but would be steeper in London and you can find some bargains on UK and Belgian bottles. Overall, recommended and I will continue shop here regularly.“

“Wcześniej była strona internetowa ciekawiej pomyślana (z kapselkami krajów i browarów). Bardzo dóża rotacja piw że czasami trudno coś upolować. Asortyment bogaty. Mnóstwo piw wiadomo z Wielkiej Brytanii, a także z Niemiec USA i Belgii. Ciekawe także pozycje egzotyczne. Nestety nie wysyłają do Polski ale można się dogadać i zdobyć piwa. Kartony ciekawie zaprojektowane i z przegródkami. Polecam zakupy w tym sklepie! Super jakosci zdjecia kazdych piw i w miare sa aktualne.“

“In about 7 or 8 orders in the last few years, totalling some 250/300 bottles, I’ve had no breakages and only 2 mistakes which on both occasions I was allowed to keep the incorrect bottle whilst being refunded on what I orderered - can’t say fairer than that! Choice is as good as it gets in the UK but it can be a tad annoying when you spot a beer you like and ’OUT OF STOCK’ is displayed at the bottom of the product! Can’t be helped I guess - but it would be less frustrating from a consumer POV to simply not list the beers, or list them in a separate area? The Scandanavian and American selections have grown steadily over the years. I guess ambiance doesn’t apply to this kind of operation but rated at 4 to reflect the overall high scorings I’ve given them. I don’t order US pale/IPA’s anymore as once received around 4 bottles (all Odell’s) that were around 5 months out of date! Would have been nice to have been warned - they tasted ok if perhaps not uber fresh, but I felt obliged to drink them in the first few days as opposed to adding them to my stash. That aside - highly reccomended! “

“Great selection of different countries (website), luckely my mother in law live in Scotland so I picked it up at her place. Ruffly 20 new countries - will inforce my statistics there. And Samuel Smiths fruit beers that I been looking for so long - they were so good... Layout was quit easy to understand vs countries which I was after. Prices was good and there were some bargins on beers that was close to bb. Postage was cheap and information and shippingtime was excellent. Do they only ship within UK.“

“Amazing! I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I walked in. The selection is overwhelming. I highly recommend having a strategy when you go there. The store has a logical arrangement. The aisles are arranged alphabetically first by country and then by brewer. There is an entire half-aisle of UK beers and an entire half-aisle of Belgian beers. Additionally, there are about 40-50 other countries represented. They also have a fairly decent selection of liquor, wine, mead, and a few other beverages. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I love this place. I’ll end this review how I began it. Amazing!“

“My Auntie ordered a case of Berlinner Weiss for my Christmas’ gift. It turned up in excellent time. There was a few unaccounted Berlinner Weiss which they incredibly generously replaced with considerably more expensive beer and beer which I very much love so I am extremely thankful for that service. Unfortunately they hadn’t got the case of Pannepot which I already wanted for my premium Christmas’ gift which was a shame. However they called in advanced and asked if anything else should be ordered instead. I was very pleased with their professional customer service and their well thought out stock replacement instead of giving me any old crap like you can easily get. I also want to praise their superb customer service which is faultless. I also wish to say thank you to Duff; Chris, Jan, Patirk and Mes for all recommending this company to me. This is what makes Rate Beer even better, sharing the knowledge.“

“This place is extraordinary. It has to be the best beer store in Britain and for range at least the best in Europe. OK they stock dull international beers but these probably don’t take up more than 10% of shelf space. From the website you would never know that they stock a wide range of Mikkeller, Brewdog, 8 Wired, Nogne O, De Ranke and many other top breweries alongside small brewers from Germany (100?), Belgium (200?), Italy (20?) and the Baltic States, plus maybe 400 beers from UK micros has got to be among the world’s great beer stores. I am guessing at 100 US craft beers. They serve the licensed trade too and you can get a fabulous array of single malts and unusual liqueurs too. They are good people too. Remember you are deep in the Fens here, not just off downtown in some international fleshpot.“

“Biggest selection of beers I’ve seen in the UK by some margin. American stuff is a little pedestrian, but still a larger range than anywhere else in Britain (why are US beers so difficult to obtain in the UK?). The website is very fast and easy to use with an excellent search facility, and (helpfully for us) appears to take its beer styles from RateBeer! Beer prices are slightly above average, but this is balanced against a relatively low shipping cost - £7.50 regardless of the number of bottles (so good for buying large volumes). Also has a selection of glassware, plus other alcoholic drinks. I ordered an awkward number of bottles (17) of an awkward variety of sizes (275ml up to 750ml) together with an awkward shaped glass (Chimay) and they all arrived in perfect condition at the promised time (next working day). Nearest best before date 4 months away, but almost all the others were a long way in the future. Pretty much unbeatable for the web service, I reckon! Must try and visit the store in person the next time I’m in Norfolk...“

“I’ve only used their online service, but I’m going to guess that most people will have done the same as the shop itself is out of the way and in the middle of nowhere. The selection is superb. The website orders the beers by country and then by brewery. Around 60 countries (although some no longer have a beer in stock and probably won’t anytime soon). Great selections from the UK, Belgium, and Germany. Also a good showing of beers from the US, as well as some nice ones from Austria, Netherlands, and Denmark. Prices were all quite reasonable. For the most part it seems like the cheapest online option in the UK. Also, for the most part, the beers were cheaper than my local shops (even with the shipping). The one problem I have encountered with them is sometimes the beers are very close or in one or two cases past its prime. The problem arises, I’m guessing, due to the large selection, and the impossibility to turnover all those beers on time. There also seems to be no guarantee that they will restock a beer anytime soon. The delivery was very good. Quick and prompt as well as well packaged. I’ve ordered probably 5-6 boxes from them, and have had no breaks. Shipping isn’t bad for mainland England and Wales, as it is £7.49 per order, no matter the size of the order (so save up a make a big one). Looks like it is a bit more expensive to ship to Ireland and non-mainland England/Wales. Also they only ship to the UK. All in all, this seems like probably the best online shop for the UK. Very impressive selection, and very reliable shipping. Also it is one day shipping (if you order before noon, otherwise it will take one extra day, still not bad). Beware of beers being old, especially if it’s something that might not move fast. Other than that, highly recommended.“
