“Visited on 7th November 2023 and again on 23rd April 2024. It's a small place and modeled on a 1950's British Pub (it's all fake), it's done very well though. Three hand-pulls, with at least one Uley beer available at all times. Cider has to be fetched from below. Little snug round the back and another room upstairs by the toilets. Friendly couple run it. No music, TV's or mobile phone usage, just like in the 50's, just conversation.“

“Visited with Margie and Bertie on 23rd April 2024, lunch time. Tuna and Sweetcorn sandwich with chips and a small salad, pint of Eden Haze (new rate). Another old pub tastefully restored by Joules, they do love using Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson's oak and wall paneling. Full range of Joules beers on cask and keg, it's a nice place to rest after wandering the streets of this lovely town.“

“A short walk from the railway station, past Aldi, and you'll find this quite unusual brewery tap, situated within a converted railway shed (surprise surprise), there's seating outside and a relatively big space for seating in front of the bar and also a mezzanine with more seating. The bar itself is next to some of the brewing kit, with the remainder behind the wall to its rear. The offering is their beers on cask, usually 4 or 5, with some craft keg offerings as well - and if you happen to visit in mid February, like I did, they stage a beer festival where about 16 guest beers from breweries around the country are offered. Lovely space with a warm, chatty atmosphere“

“Visited at lunchtime on 7th November 2023. Strange place, dogs allowed in one half (no carpets) but not in the carpeted area. It's very basic with both high and low table seating, local cask ales plus Doombar, usual suspects on the Keg lines, no new rates for me though. Huge food portions, traditional Pub Grub being the options. Needs some 'Tender Loving Care' but it's welcoming and friendly enough.“

“Visited on 10th February 2023 with Margie and Auntie Sue. Nice town centre pub with one bar and multi open plan rooms. Clean, tidy and popular, semi-foodie with a good selection of cask and keg lines. Good vibes!“

“Lovely old boozer in the very centre of Ludlow. Fantastic mish mash of old tudor timberwork and historic posters through the decades since. It has character for sure. Service is very attentive and the surroundings were very ambient indeed. Joules beer isn't he most exciting by today's standards - exception was Slumbering Monk - but they did have them in good condition. Definitely worth a visit for a pint - I had 4 half pints of their own beer.“

“The first impression you have on entering this old converted railway building, besides how busy it is for midday on a Tuesday, is the big sweet malt aroma emanating from the brewhouse which overlooks the bar and seating area. No glass separation here, you are sat in the brewery itself. On our visit an upgraded mash tun was being commissioned, overlooked by the owners. The bar is quite large, with lots of comfy sofa seating and a mezzanine offering even better views over the brewing area. Beer tasted extremely fresh and tasty on our visit. Good range of pork pies and scotch eggs which were being relished by the locals. Good atmosphere here.“

“Another great old timber-framed building in Ludlow, a little worn and weathered both inside and out. Beer selection is fairly limited, though there was a new Hobsons beer on cask, which doesn't happen too often. Bit Wetherspoons in feel, but if you like drinking in historic old inns this will probably tick the box.“

“A cosy town centre pub that also serves typical pub food. Unlike some of the other Ludlow pubs housed in ancient buildings, this seems to have an updated, modern feel about it. Local cask selection (Salopian, Ludlow, Hobsons) and national keg lagers and ciders. Outside mini-picnic benches. Dog friendly. I managed a new Welsh cask beer. Good pit-stop, beers in good condition, but not massively exciting in terms of selection.“

“The only ’Parlour Pub’ in the UK? It’s a front room with cask ale. Never really a choice, only has two (ever changing) firkins on at a time. Just luck if you find a new beer to rate. Well worth visiting if in the lovely town of Ludlow.“

“Visited on 25th March 2017. Nice looking old pub, timber frames with black and white thing happening, a more modern interior but with a good balance inkeeping with the age of the pub. Beer list wasn’t overly inspiring, 2 on from Wye Valley plus Doom Bar and Hobsons Best. Prices OK, quality of beer was good. Service solid. Worth a stop for the pub but not really a great beer venue.“

“Visited on 25th March 2017. Situated down a narrow street slap bang in the town centre this is a mix of modern and traditional pub. The decor has hints of both, the food menu is pretty modern with chips served in baskets. The beer range was pretty local, 3 from Ludlow plus 3 others including a Salopian and Hobsons, Kelham Island beer put on as we left. Quality was good. Prices were decent. Nice place by don’t think the best in town.“

“Visited on 25th March 2017. Converted railway building next to the station. Has a patio out front overlooking the Aldi carpark and the railway, inside has a nice spacious seating area with a mezzanine level, a nice view of some brewing equipment, does have a hangar feel about it but don’t think it detracts. Had 6 Ludlow casks on tap plus a Joules and Dortmunder lager on keg. 3x3rd sampler trays available for £2.80 so good value. Had a sampler tray plus a pint of Stout. All beer was well kept, quality was solid without being spectacular. Service friendly, bar snacks looked good too. It’s a nice brewpub venue, no specials though so not sure I’d dash back as not likely to pick up a new beer.“

“Visited on 25th March 2017. Micropub a few minutes walk from the station at the bottom of the hill leading up to town. Didn’t notice the place on the way up and only picked up on the venue in a local CAMRA magazine. A lamp is lit above the purple door if the pub is open. Inside it’s a cosy 2 roomed affair with the bar and a couple of tables on one side of the corridor and a lounge with a lovely array of seating and feeling like a stately home on the other side. 2 taps with 1 cider and 1 beer so not much to go at but did pick up a new Ashover beer to me on cask. Quality and prices were good. It’s definitely worth a visit for the pub as it is a venue that puts a smile on your face. A great example of a micropub.“

“Visited on 25th March 2017. According to the reviews on the web the oldest pub in Ludlow. It’s really close to the Church and is set back down a little passage from Church St. It’s a lovely old black and white building and has a little patio outside. Inside the decor is really smart and there’s several rooms, all looking smart and sympathetically decorated to keep the traditional feel. Beer wise had 4 beers from Joules on cask plus 2 guests and 2 other keg Joules offerings plus more macro lager etc. Had a couple of beers here and the quality was excellent, service was good and prices very good. It’s a lovely old pub, well restored by Joules. Definitely worth a look in and probably the best range in town.“

“The tasting area is in a big part of an old workshop with plenty of chairs and an upstairs mezzanine with some couches. Food was basic pub snacks. They do three-glass tasters for the curious. A pretty good stop for a beer in Ludlow, though they have odd hours as they are not licensed as a pub.“

“Busy pub in the town. Beer range was decidedly uninteresting unless you like Ludlow beers! Got a new Six Bells tick which was bland. Pies are OK, though one of my pet hates is pies with a ceramic base, tends to break the teeth!“

“A magnificent multi story timber framed black and white building dating back to the early 14th Century, this really is quite a sight from outside. Inside is not quite as olde worlde but there are plenty of beams and nooks and crannies that give away the buildings age. A modest tap list I had two cask ales here, both in very good condition. We didn’t try the food but the menu was quite large. Service was prompt. This place is only a minutes walk from the famous Church Inn, so is well worth stopping in, you might pick up a couple of winners in good nick.“

“A cosy basic but charming pub in the heart of old Ludlow. Bare floorboards and church pews for seats. A fair selection of real ales on tap, about 8, mostly localish. Great pies - delicious and satisfying. Service is friendly and prompt. Would definitely come back here if I ever find myself in Ludlow again. “

“I couldn’t resist the chance to visit this as we had a weekend in Ludlow and glad I did. The downside first though, it has all the charm and ambiance of, well a Railway Shed I suppose, it is a big open space with a few industrial fittings, the brewery kit on the left and a few benches dotted around. There are some benches at the front where you have the delights of a car park and a large Aldi store to gaze over. On the positive side, I went through the pumps and all the beers were served well, the staff were a delight and keen to discuss the beers and the prices were decent. Watch out for the Sunday closing!!“

“2014 Rating 66. Not the pub it used to be, I have to say. It remains as busy and popular as ever but it seems to be struggling to maintain its reputation. The beers were pretty average now, compared to before where there was more choice of styles and Breweries. The pub is looking a little faded and worn but having said that it is still easily the best in town. The Ludlow Pie Company, which is a majority of the food on offer isn’t making pies as I know them, these appear to be casseroles with a bit of pastry on top.
2004 rating 80. The Church Inn is a gem within many gems. It is a true Free House run by a CAMRA member who has a particular interest in providing top notch local beers with a choice of interesting guests. Along with the English Ales a good selection of Belgian and German Beers are also sold in correct glassware. The pub is always packed to the rafters on a friday / Saturday right throughout the day and the locals are proud to have this classic in their town. The food is traditional and consistently good. The region is well worth a visit as it is very traditional and unspoilt.“

“I really like this place, visited over Christmas. As previous reviews state it’s located right by the railway station. Big open plan building although it was toasty when I was there (perhaps sitting upstairs helped?) and there was a wood burner going. Ludlow range on offer, great beer and I highly recommend the pork pie which was absolutely superb (served with chutney). Good stuff.“

“Local CAMRA trip: just outside our area but Ludlow is a lovely little town and because of the (fairly) new Brewery location and visitor centre, we turned up ’mob-handed’. The place was freezing to be honest: high celling with minimalistic fittings and furniture combind with the open plan huge ground floor ensured it was warmer outside than in! Even with 30 of us, it refused to heat up at all and after a couple of pints the women folk in the party wanted to move on and have a pub crawl: us blokes dutifully followed! Three of their beers available, all cheaper than in pubs, I think we were being given a discount though, so maybe the prices are not as keen for ’normal’ people. I’d have stayed longer, but the cold was getting to me as well. We re-visited before the bus re-appeared but it was still very cold inside. Visit by all means, but go wrapped up, or make sure it is a warm day!“

“We visited here on Saturday 10th November 2012. I was quite surprised that we hadn’t been here before and that I also hadn’t been aware of its existence until Loz’s mum Isobel said she would take us there next time we were over in Herefordshire. As the address suggests it is very close to the railway but also close to the car parks that serve this area of town and actually near the three supermarkets, Tesco, Lidl and Co-Op. It would appear that the brewery have located themselves in and have renovated a much older building as the name suggest it would have been an old railway shed, it is quite a decent sized building with some old railway information on the walls inside. Once inside you have stairs to a mezzanine floor off to your right where you overlook the mash tun and FV, we sat up here. The bar is directly in front of you as you enter. The beer choice as you might expect is limited to the Ludlow range, and the beer if a tad unexciting was superbly kept. The place was quite large for the town and, airy and modernish, I would be surprised if it is ever that busy and I guess that it may rely on the odd birthday, work function to get any numbers in here, still I quite liked it and I guess will pop in here from time to time when next here.“

“Ah, ticks all the boxes. Roaring fire, nooks and crannies, decent sausages, Champion Beer of Britain 2007 on handpull, buxom wenches - well, it was the weekend of the medieval fayre at the castle. Evern the ipod-driven music was eclectic and entertaining. Well worth the visit.“

“Funny little local, but with a great selection of beers. Staff extremely friendly and the bar was full of interesting characters. I’m sure it will be the only time I will hear "Did I hear you mention corregated iron?" shouted across the bar and then for the two old fella’s to start exhanging corregated iron facts and history!“

“Excellent pub with 8 interesting real ales, well kept. We stayed over - the aaccommodation is cheap & clean. We got a room with a spa bath and a balcony with a view of the church. The food was very good trad pub food. There is a separate room for non-smokers as well as a no-smoking area within the main bar. Recent winners of the local camra branch and regional pub of the year awards.“
