UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 0.355 l can from 'Beer Republic', 2023 vintage. Black with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Intensely sweetish-malty, quite roasty and a bit fruity aroma of praline, coffee, bourbon, vanilla, apple and some hazelnut. Fairly sweet, malty, quite roasty, slightly boozy and a bit fruity taste of praline, mocha, licorice, roasted hazelnut, bourbon, vanilla, some apple and light oak, followed by a long, quite roasty-bitter, slightly warming, minimally woody finish. Full body, smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Delicious brew, as always, an absolute no-brainer. Sophisticated, great balance, superb mouthfeel. Benchmark stuff.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2023 Bottle. Black pour. Aroma of rich smooth bourbon, chocolate, caramel, earthy coconut, vanilla, rich malt, molasses, subtle smoke, oak, coffee, wheat and a little tobacco. Taste has of course that delicious parabola barrel explosion, dark chocolate, rich bourbon, fruity booze, subtle smoke, earthy coconut, vanilla, caramel, bitter coffee, roasted malt, wheat, molasses, tobacco, oak and a long finish. As usual, it needs to breathe a little and after a while more fruity flavors emerge and the beer gets even richer. As previous editions, this is absolutely delicious.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2023 Bottle from Jane’s Beer Store in Mountain View, CA. Aroma is dark chocolate, burnt caramel, strong molasses. Taste is dark coffee, dark cocoa, strong boozy flavor. Intense chocolate, coffee, and molasses aromas but sips so smoothly.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2023 Bottle. Back beer with a light brown head. Bourbon and caramel aroma with light chocolate. Caramel and bourbon flavor with light vanilla and light chocolate. Medium bodied. Coffee and oak linger with bourbon and light chocolate.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2023 Black in color but brown on the ends of the glass. Aroma of caramel, sweet chocolate, booze. No head. Taste is tobacco, molasses, chocolate, QQ cereal, malty, coconut, vanilla, light on booziness. Very balanced for a barrel aged. Smooth and creamy on the plate.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2023 Opaque black beer with a slight brown head. Heavy aroma; taste starts heavy sweet and ends slightly bitter and dry. Wood, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, mocha, roasted malts and coffee. 9/5/9/4
