UPDATED: MAR 2, 2024 A very tasty porter with an emphasis on good English licorice. In the beginning, it has fine notes of caramel which are slowly replaced by an increasingly rich taste of English licorice, which also delivers a little coffee and dark chocolate to the taste. I try hard to look for Christmas in this porter, because with the name Dark Christmas (that's the name my bottle is sold under) I would expect some typical Christmas flavor notes. Only at the very end a bit of dried fruit, which I mostly recognize as prunes, emerge in the taste and a hint of figs wander past in the mouth. So the name is certainly not misleading and there will be a little Christmas atmosphere in the living room here on one of the first days of spring. It is well brewed and flavorful.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2019 50cl Bottle @ Boxbeers.com, Copenhagen, Denmark. Hazy dark brown colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is malt, sweet, herbs, hints of chocolate. Taste follows the aroma. Medium body, average carbonation.

Tasted 2017-12-26. As dark christmas. Pours hazy dark brown with beige head that quickly disappears. Aroma of pumpernickel and brown sugar. Herbal flavours. Mild tasting. Low bitterness.

2017.12.05: Bought as Dark Christmas. A fine dark ale with notes of chocolate, coffee and herbs in aroma and taste. Medium-high sweetness, light-medium bitterness.

50 cl. Flaske. 7,3 %. Øllen er købt som Dark Christmas. Fantastisk mørk øl med luysebrunt skum. Lækker salg.

On bottle. Pours dark red, with little to no foam. The taste is a bit watery, and a little wine-ish. Notes of chocolate The scent is really sweet, but with notes of coffee. Lightly sour.
