COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale -- it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

8.1% ABV through 2008
8.7% ABV in 2009

simontomlinson (6601) - Lancashire, ENGLAND - DEC 14, 2022
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2022 Missing review I came across from 31.12.2015 off white thick creamy head stayed all the way on a near black still body. Prune, coffee brown sugar aroma with a hint of rum. Beautifully smooth on the palate, soft dark fruits, brown sugar, strong coffee tastes - so much on taste buds. What a fantastic beer & totally recommend.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2022 Can/Fest. A- Malty, caramel. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malty, caramel, mild spice. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Malty and honestly a lot of complex flavors on the palate but I can't quite place them. Not sure how it took me so long to have this beer.

MarkoNm (6140) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - FEB 6, 2022
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2022 Can. A bit hazy, dirty coppery, medium sized beige head, medium lasting. Nice woody nose with lots of malty presence, biscuits, caramel, earthy notes. Medium bitterness, some milder sweetness upfront and quite roasted in the end. Lasting aftertaste, woody and herbal. Medium body. Some alcohol sipping through, but very mild.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2021 How have I not rated this...we did a smaller older semi-vertical - 2004, 2006, & 2007. All drinkable but nothing to write home about with the 2006 being better. Maybe I'll do a fresh bottle of this ...

DraftPours23 (2978) - FRANCE - DEC 29, 2020

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2020 Wow this is a very good beer. Coffee with some chocolate flavors but is not a stout. It says on the can that it is an English Style Old Ale. It is good!

Robbowan (62) - SWEDEN - NOV 17, 2020
UPDATED: NOV 17, 2020 Fully flavoured US ale flirting with the British. Round and malty with nice hops without tipping over to full bitterness. Really nice beer when the cold season starts.
