COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Grumbo (20034) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUN 26, 2016
Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured clear dark brown with a good sized, lasting, tan colour head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Light sweetness, moderately heavy roasted bitterness. Soft carbonation, medium body, slick texture. A decent porter.

sample at mondial de la bière, mtl. unclear very dark brown with a small light beige cap offering some retention and lacing. strong hazelnut coffee, tia maria *TM, burnt caramel and berries, raisins and figs, floral tingling eau-de-vie alcohol - grappa-like; dust, spices. moderately low carbonation, medium body - oily; boozy spicy finish. like some boozy raisin and pecan tartelettes. very nice but nothing funky, although it may be, should you consider disco music funky.

Corposa, poco carbonata, piuttosto morbida, lievemente astringente.Poco calda. Equilibrata

Ragnampiza (751) - Rome / Lecce, ITALY - SEP 17, 2014
330 ml bottle from Hop Corner. Very dark brown, hard to see through, with a tiny and bubbly light brown head which dissipated very quickly. Intense and spot-on aroma, definitely sweet smelling, with notes of milk chocolate, quality espresso coffee, very roasted and almost smoky. A hint of vanilla and cinnamon as well. Nice velvety mouthfeel. Rich and full but very drinkable and quaffable at the same time. Almost no warming at all, the alchool is extremely well hidden. Decent coffee bitterness, slightly dry, lingering aftertaste. Soft carbonation, medium to full body, oily texture. Very good porter.

Draft sample @ Birra Expo’14 Piacenza.

Bottle at home, from BOE, 08/12/13. Black with a good sized tan head that dissipates to a thin covering and finally thins to a swirl. Nose is light roast, metallic nip, light cocoa powder, earthy, chocolate biscuit crumble. Taste comprises roast malt, milk chocolate, cookies and cream, light mineral tang, earthy biscuit base. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roasty finale. Decent enough porter.

Opaque dark brown beer with a tidy pale tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate. Creamy dark malt, a little dry. Mild minerals. Lactose. Whisper of dark fruits. Semi dry finish. Fine.

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - black beer with a poor head retention; roasted coffee, licorice, hops and black cherries; clean and with a moderate carbonation, bitter with an aftertaste of coffee and vanilla - lively and charming
