UPDATED: JAN 9, 2021 330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour, no head, just a ring of tiny beige bubbles at the bezel. Vinous fruity and toasty, caramel malty aroma, notes of dark caramel, Marsala, sweet wine, a yeasty spicy touch, hints of wafers. Taste is minimally sweet, caramel malty and vinous fruity, notes of Marsala, sweet wine, sweet blue grapes, a touch of wafers, a yeasty spicy touch with allusion to marmite, minimally metallic overtones; minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Viscous texture, smooth and soft palate, very fine, soft to flat carbonation.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2020 top notch barleywine. Brown, rich, probably years old. Still got it. Great drinking.

Almost no head is on opening and pouring into glass. Tastes of tree bark, dark chocolate, with vinagar notes. Was looking forward to this but the bottle on opening may have been a bit flat.

Ciekawostka, piwo jest nalane praktycznie pod sam brzeg szyjki butelki. Piana praktycznie się nie tworzy, jeśli coś się wymusi, to bardzo szybko opada. W aromacie sporo czerwonych owoców, trochę suszonych owoców w postaci rodzynek. Generalnie jest słodko. Wychodzi lekko alkohol, ale jest bardzo z tyłu, a razem z w.w. owocami daje wrażenie słodkiego, czerwonego wina. W smaku jest oczywiście słodkie, słodowe, karmelowe, dalej czerwone owoce. Gęste, wyklejające, aż skleja usta. Wysycenia właściwie brak, co zrozumiałe. Posmak jest długi i słodki. Przy finiszu wychodzi niestety też niestety lekko alkohol. Nie jest jakiś mega nieprzyjemny, no ale jest, trzeba z kronikarskiego obowiązku o nim wspomnieć. Nie jestem jakimś wielkim fanem stylu, ale to chyba jeden z moich faworytów.

Nose is earthy fruit rinds, light spice, barrel notes, fruit cake, brandy note, toffee fudge. Taste comprises mellow dark fruit shreds, dates, figs, light wood, toffee, toasted brown sugars, spice. Medium + body, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Solid mellow and balanced barley wine, ageing well, great sipper.

Beaux fruits liquoreux dans une sauce riche en malts. Le vin d’orge d’un vieux continent sur cette terre des Amériques. Réglisse, caramel, mélasse, chocolat, noisettes, cerises, raisins, prunes, figues, dattes. Superbe texture veloutée. Finale capiteuse et pluridimensionnelle. Qualité et excellence.

[5/16/16] Draught at Himmeriget in Copenhagen. Batch #1. Dark brown with red hues. Great aroma of port, malt, caramel, cookies, some vanilla, dark fruits (lots of raisins and prunes). Sweet and slightly sourish flavor with wine, raisins, prunes, caramel, some vanilla. Full-bodied. Great.
