UPDATED: FEB 15, 2024 750mL bottle blend #2, at the Cellar on 2/14/24. Bright cassis-amber. Thin, pinkish head. Clear. Rich, chalky, tannic currant somewhat softened by the beer. Bright and tart, clean and aromatic. Fruity, juicy. Juicy, soft as hell for cassis, wow. Bright and peppery. Malty, dry, rich and juicy. Wow, I frickin love the fruited fermiers and this one is a standout. So mellow for such a difficult fruit. Earthy, mineralesque, chalky, delicious.

750 ml bottle at the brewery. Pours a deep, intense shade of reddish violet, with an initial finger of violet-tinted head that eventually settles into a thick ring and a little bit of film atop the liquid. Fun to look at, really. The currants are really intense here, more than the fruit in the other Fermiers, in that it shoves the base beer down more. They almost suggest a rye spice to me, and that really threw me off. Layers of dark currants, with some blackberry and cranberry notes, oak, funk, and some sweet and doughy malts. Milder acidity than expected. Medium-plus bodied, with moderate to medium carbonation and a fruity, funky, vinous, spicy mouthfeel. Really unusual beer. Fun to try, and glad I got to share it four ways instead of trying to take it down solo. Although maybe I did need more time to ponder this one.

Bottle opened at Funk Factory shared by a very generous person at the bar, pours a crazy purple with a pink head and some lacing, aroma is crazy, tons of oak mixed in with tannin and berry, flavor has a very subtle sourness at first with a fruity finish that lingers, very, very nice
