UPDATED: MAY 16, 2023 750ml aged bottle. Poured an amberish color with a small sized off white head. Caramel, some dark fruits, and definitely passed its prime yet still drinkable.

From old tasting notes. Deep copper, red color. Thick creamy beige head. Soft toasted malt nose. Smooth, malty, full-bodied and flavorful. Nicely balanced with a crisp, dry hop finish. Very good.

Bottle at James’ cellar cleaning tasting. Pours a faintly hazed brown amber with a thin white head. Big honey and malt on the nose. Tangy, tastes like someone dropped Nerds into a seltzer. Sweet but empty.

Bottle at tasting at JTClockwork’s 3rd eisbock of the day which is enough to lure me away from Manhattan. kind of ugly pour orangey brownish. nose is sweet fruits and bread. tastes bready, apple, caramel, grapefruit, brown sugar, wood. not all that boozy for style. yippee 15 eisbocks!

A review from notes when bought and drunk in 1989. Was expecting something more concentrated and sturdy and was surprised by the level of carbonation. Still better than anythiong else being drunk in Ontario at the time. Peaches, gentle , delicate light yellowy orange (salmon?) in colour with a bit of a zesty finish. A bit too much acidity. Loved that 750ml bottle.

750ml corked bottle pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that retains well and leaves some excellent lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and light fruits with hints of hops and yeast. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with light fruits and mild hop bitterness with a bit of yeast. Flavors are more complex than I can describe, as this was a truly outstanding beer which I truly enjoyed.

Bottle, 2005. Drank last summer. Trying to drown away the memory of watching England get ripped apart by Germany in the world cup. Got off a stall in Macclesfield. They only had one, never sold a beer before, probably never will again. Won it in a raffle. So bit random how I got hold of this one. Clear orange colour with a thin to medium off white head. Strong alcohol in the aroma with some dark fruit, spices, christmas cake, cherry. Flavour as some caramel notes, sweetness and sugar. It’s good, bit heavy palate though that got a bit tiresome necking the bottle to myself.
