COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Malted wheat and the choicest American barley are combined with a blend of noble hops to create this light, fruity, refreshing beer. Brewed in the style of the American beer renaissance, Blue Star is unfiltered, the yeast adding a complex note to the flavor profile. It’s especially good with a slice of lemon!

UPDATED: APR 25, 2020 12oz bottle at Bottleworks, Seattle, WA on 07/09/2008. From the label I was almost expecting this to be a Newcastle Brown approximation. It’s a pretty solid wheat beer, in reality. Some grassy, straw notes on the nose. Light soft fruit flavour.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2019 [12oz bottle from Total Wines, Huntingdon Beach, CA.] A hazy amber pour with a fast fading white head; weak grainy aroma with a touch of orange; sweet grainy body, with more orange juice; and little in teh way of a finish. Drinkable, but forgetable.

cmacklin (4265) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 19, 2019
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2019 355ml bottle. Pours a cloudy gold-yellow with a medium, foamy, short lived, ecru head that laces. Mild aroma of grainy wheat malt, yeast, orange peel and black pepper. Sweet flavour of bready wheat malt, lemon, yeast and floral hops in a crisp, dry finish. Light body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Refreshing and easy to drink, but a little weak.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 11/6/2017. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, orange, citrus zest, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, orange, citrus zest, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Mild herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, citrus zest, peach, pear, red apple, wheat, cracker, bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, light pepper, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a delicious American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced noble hops, fruity American wheat yeast, and pale/wheat malts. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2018 Kind of harsh taste, not much wheat beer kind of flavor. The bottle I got, bottled 3 months prior, had chunks of sediment, some of which stayed on the surface.

I admit, it suckered me in. That sassy little blue star on the label had me thinking of the great and glorious Dallas Cowboys......oh wait, this is 2018, not 1993! And the "taint" of Jerry Jones is strong indeed. From a feared franchise to this abysmal mess. It's true. When you want the CHAMP stick with Blatz. That shit is World Champion FOREVER. This "beer" was probably brewed by Jerry Jones, and strained through Charles Haley's mouldering jockstrap. Never again.
