3 Harmon Salish Sea Orca Can at Brian's Hazy golden colour. Strong malt character, and quite strong bitterness too, some straws aroma, light vegetable bitterness in the finish. Bold, if not classy. Thursday, March 14, 2019

2.9 Harmon Salish Sea Orca 12 oz. can, pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out straw, notes of cereal and grass. Flavour is pretty flat, with straw, grassy hops, some vegetal notes and biscuity malt. Not overly pleasant but drinkable. Thursday, March 14, 2019

2 Harmon Salish Sea Orca 355ml can @ home. Pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a small frothy white head. Nose is soft grains, light herbs, and some vegetal notes. Flavour is peppery with a mild cereal malt character. Light bodied, mild carbonation, and a mild sweetness with an equal bitterness. Thursday, March 14, 2019

1.6 Harmon Salish Sea Orca Can. Slight haze, light amber. Not much head on this. There's sort of a light, spicy hop note, Cooked vegetables. Same on the palate, with light bitterness, and a touch of spiciness. Thursday, March 14, 2019

3.1 Harmon Puget Sound Porter Odd misplace maple in here. Black pour with good head and lacing. Some unfermented sugar. Creamy consistency. Almost good but a little off. Sweet and bitter finish with some roast. Tap at Seattle Taphouse. Sunday, January 6, 2019

3.1 Harmon Super Samurai Barley Wine Ale 12 oz bottle poured. Split with Luttonm, as we continue to work through the Harmon 6 pack we picked up at the brewery. A red forward copper pour. Sweet malt nose, caramel and buttery. Flavor is strange. Sweet malts and blue cheese. Some spice. Rye? Interesting hop character. One of the more unique barleywines I've had in recent memory. Too much strange going on here. Hmmm. Monday, December 4, 2017

3 Harmon Super Samurai Barley Wine Ale Bottle in Seattle. At least one year old, we picked this up at the brewery around then. Almost no head on a quite dark Ruby brown body. Stale hop nose (we missed the 'drink sooner than later' note on the bottle) with sweet red fruit. Sip is funky, andrew said cheesy. I hate sorachi ace and it's residuals here do this beer no favors. Light bitterness. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Funky red fruit. Not enjoyable, but I'm sure someone would love this. Monday, December 4, 2017

3.2 Harmon Belgian Golden Strong 12 oz bottle poured. Finally getting around to trying these beers that Lutton and I picked up during a brewery visit a while back. A more dense golden orange pour. Flavor is initially strong. Metallic in a way. Orange fruit, sweet malt. Boozy finish. Definitely a Belgian kick, but underneath the intensity. Not bad, but not the smoothest of strongs. Saturday, November 4, 2017
luttonm |
3.3 Harmon Belgian Golden Strong Bottle in Seattle. Modest head, rich orange body. Rich fruity nose, thickly sweet and rich yeast flavors of pressed orange and ester. Sticky base is brightened by esters, and moderately bright carbonation. Thick orange and banana. Fair American imitation of a Belgian strong. Odd. Saturday, November 4, 2017

2.7 Harmon Paltinum Pilsner Draft pour to a schooner at the Harmon Taproom. Apparently I'm all in on pilsner today. Might as well. If you can make a good pils, you know what you're doing. Hazy side, golden orange pour. Harsh aroma, intense straw grain, heavier than expected. Soapy flavor. Soap and straw. Thick body. Not a pils in can see myself drinking plenty of. A bit off for me. Saturday, October 7, 2017

3.6 Harmon Olde John Grit City Ale 12 oz bottle poured. Still working through the split 6 pack from Harmon, from the Tacoma crawl with Luttonm. Fun beer here. Reddish copper pour. A spice malt, bran like flavor. Malt forward aroma, total barleywine in my opinion. Dry finish. Smoother than the alcohol suggests. Flavorful. Nothing harsh. Good strong ale overall. Tuesday, September 26, 2017
luttonm |
3.2 Harmon Olde John Grit City Ale Bottle in Seattle. Another one from Harmon that Andrew and I picked up earlier this year that we're still trying to work through. Soapy ring, heavy malty brown. Nose is big, and rough, fruity and harsh. Whiskey and wine barrel flavors don't compliment each other on nose. Body is a muddle of flavors, with the barrel notes both from whiskey and wine. Base is slightly hoppy, evokes a rough barleywine. Off fruity flavors, but I'm sure it's just the wine barrel. Chalky alcohol finish, a bit bitter. Odd but ok. Tuesday, September 26, 2017

3.5 Harmon Foeder Belgian Golden 12 oz bottle poured. Picked up at Harmon a little while back. A thick golden orange pour with a rocky foam head. A sweet aroma of floral and fruit candy. Belgian impressions for sure, but underneath the candy sweetness. Flavor is very similar. Sweet, but warming. Flavorful. Not a bad beer here, but a little too candy for my usual taste. Good belgian and orange notes all throughout. The wood impressions come through, but not quite as noticeable as I would have thought. Interesting. Friday, August 18, 2017
luttonm |
3.6 Harmon Foeder Belgian Golden Bottle in Seattle. Thick, hazy orange body, plenty of yeast floating around. Steamy wood on nose, along with some peppery esters. Full body, sweet round ester, orange juice. Some waxiness. Not terrible, but lacks some finesse. Alcohol sweetness takes over by the finish. Thursday, August 17, 2017
luttonm |
3.5 Harmon Gindarina Barrel Aged blind tasting at Andrew’s. From bottle. Thin head, ring foam. Malty haze, brown. Sweet, gin botanicals, gingerbread and vomit. Sweet, thin, a little bright. Tripel I guess. Bright yeast. Banana bread, cloves. Odd, ok. Tuesday, May 23, 2017

3.4 Harmon Farmhand Saison Draft 12 oz pour at Harmon Taproom. Darker, cloudy golden pour with a thin fizz head. A toasty malt aroma, that’s paired with a Belgian yeast. Unique to my usual Farmhouse. Flavor is a spicy malt front. Straw and wheat notes. A bit of funk. More spice. Unique saison for sure. I liked this one. Saturday, May 13, 2017

3.8 Harmon Shinto Sour Dark Ale 12 oz bottle poured. Picked up at Harmon during a Tacoma crawl. A very interesting, complex makeup of this beer, after reading all the patience and hard work that went into blending it. The description alone makes it sound like it’s a bottle I can’t afford, but it was priced nicely. Pours a dark brown, closer to the stout than the amber. Cherries really come through nicely. Like a chocolate cherry sour finish. A flavor I would expect in an ice cream more so than a beer, but it works nicely for me. Not too much sour going on. 5/10 sour. Very flavorful, and a very interesting beer. Liked this one. Tuesday, April 18, 2017

3.8 Harmon Shinto Sour Dark Ale Bottle in Seattle. Thin dissipating offwhite foam. Quite dark brown-black. Deep dark chocolate and black licorice nose. Also tart sour plum. Sweet sour from the top. Fascinating beer, with a huge amount going on. For the most part, it works quite well. Quite vinous, and tannic at points. Some sweet soy. As Andrew notes- pretty incredible the work they put in to selling a 12oz bottle for $5. Touch of smoky, bitter stout underneath it all. Tart cherry fruit impression. Quite nice, but lacking some finesse. Tuesday, April 18, 2017

3.8 Harmon Black Tartan IPA Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Stringy lace. The aroma had some sweet to roasty malts, slightly like a combination of coffee to chocolate and then a developing piney bitter hops underneath. The flavor blended all of those previously mentioned aromas together and added a boost of earthy to semi-spicy tones to amplify the flavor. Hops kick a bit harder in the aftertaste and leaves a dry blended hops to malts finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body, perhaps almost closer to the medium side. Fair sessionability, good carbonation. ABV felt good. Overall, nicely done black IPA that I could come back to if I could. Thursday, March 2, 2017

3.6 Harmon Brown's Point ESB Poured into a mug, the appearance was a semi-transparent amber color with a thin cap of a white foamy head. A disarray of light lace. The aroma had some sweet grassy to earthy hoppy tones. Some malts, somewhat tea-like and lean. Light dose of biscuity to breadiness. The flavor leaned crisp and malty sweet with a touch of the smooth tea and earthiness. This all combines into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a great sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation. ABV felt appropriate. Overall, nicely done ESB well worthy of having again, preferably with some fish n’chips. Thursday, March 2, 2017

3.6 Harmon Steep & Deep Winter Ale Poured into a mug, the appearance was a dark brown color with a finger’s worth of off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly stringy lace. The aroma had some roasty nuts, caramel and toffee malts and some resinous/piney hops. Really nice blend. The flavor combines the bitter to the sweet pretty nice. Nicely done hoppy to malty aftertaste with a concurrent finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Smooth carbonation feels good. ABV felt right too. Overall, nicely done American brown ale that I could come back to if it was in my distro. Thanks Frank. Thursday, March 2, 2017

3.8 Harmon 11th Street +4 IPA Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Soft cream, hazy rich gold. Deep fruity pine nose, tons of juicy pine hops. Mild tropical citrus but mostly juicy pine. Lightly creamy, very smooth body with round robust bitter. Solid dipa. Nice beer. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.8 Harmon 11th Street +4 IPA Draft pour to a schooner at Harmon, Tacoma. Anniversary beer with some bonus hops! I’m in. Bright golden orange pour with a patchy head and sticky lacing. Aroma is juicy tropical fruit up front, nice hop.profile. A warming IPA. Juicy hops, and a sturdy body overall. Fruit forward, but not sweet. Bold, and very tasty. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.3 Harmon Black Tartan IPA Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Thin gray tan foam, quite dark brown black. Sweet metallic malt, thin hops in nose grow in to richer pine in the body. Rather bitter but still pretty malt focused. Fruity red malt isn’t fantastic. Ok. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.3 Harmon Stryker Stout - Rum Soaked Oak Aged Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Off white cream, dark brown black. Harsh sweet lactic fruit nose. DMS, lactic messy touch. Fairly thin by weight. Cherry fruit, dark bitter caramel. Messy and cloying. Friday, February 17, 2017

3 Harmon Black Tartan IPA Draft pour to a schooner at Harmon, Tacoma. Pours blacker than their stout. Thick tan cream foam head and lacing. Very garden aroma with goods and vegetables. Grassy hops, vegetal, with a coffee roast that shows up way late. Bitter, and a bit harsh. A bit disappointing for me. Not very pleasant for my taste. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.4 Harmon Stryker Stout - Rum Soaked Oak Aged Draft pour to a schooner at Harmon, Tacoma. Pours black with a cream tan head. Dark fruit, oak, and a sweet chocolate aroma. Flavor is really nutty. Not boozy like other rum aged beers I’ve had. Black cherry. More nutty notes. Thick body. Sweet cream linger. Fun, very unique beer. Not bad Friday, February 17, 2017

3.8 Harmon Puget Sound Porter Draft pour, tasted at Harmon, Tacoma. Pours black with a tan foam head. I know I’ve had this beer before, forever ago. Fun to revisit what was obviously a memorable porter. Rich in chocolate aroma and flavor. Toasty. A slight bitterness throughout. Roasted chocolate malt late reminder. A well put together porter. Excellent. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.7 Harmon Pinnacle Peak Pale Ale Draft pour, tasted at Harmon, Tacoma. Clean golden pour with a foam ring head. Soft aroma, with sweet grain, and hops. Cool flavor, a refreshing pale. 2.9 Harmon Mt. Takhoma Blonde Draft pour, tasted at Harmon, Tacoma. First stop at the much anticipated Tacoma brewery trip, and starting off with one with quite a bit of history. Served with a slice of orange that quite enhances the aroma experience here. Pale golden pour. Moderately crisp, corny grains. Has a Mexican lager feel to it, as much as it does a blonde ale. Lingering corn grains. Alright. Friday, February 17, 2017
luttonm |
3.6 Harmon Hoppy Pale - Mosaic Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Thin soft foam, solid gold body. Sweaty sweet mosaic nose, solid and proper character. Solid single hop notes, profound sweaty sweet hops with a bit of creamy malt character. Thin clean bitter finish, a little round. Pretty nice. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.5 Harmon Puget Sound Porter Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Creamy soft foam, dark brown-black. Pale, slight lactic porter roast nose. Sweet malt, touch of cream, peppery bitter finish. Modest weight. Pretty alright. Friday, February 17, 2017

3.8 Harmon Hoppy Pale - Mosaic Draft pour at Harmon, Tacoma to a schooner. Golden apple juice pour with a thin, patchy head. A good display of the Mosaic profile. Grassy hop forward aroma. Flavor is hop deliciousness, with grassy winning over a soft citrus. Refreshing beer with a subtle lingering bitterness. Very pleasant pale here. Friday, February 17, 2017
luttonm |
3.5 Harmon Expedition Amber Ale Harmon Tap Room, Tacoma. Soft fuzzy foam, dark amber brown. Fresh milled malt nose, pale chocolate and dry roast. Nice, clean malt flavors. Minimal dark caramel, a much more roasted amber and I like it. Tastes like a brown ale. Solid. Friday, February 17, 2017
