Didn’t know Höhn’s Bock was so good, will have to try it. About the dining-oriented aspect of Br. Sauer...don’t let the fact that lots of people dine there put you off visiting if you’re not going to eat!

Seriously, don’t miss the Brau-Beviale, especially Tuesday! Hell, it starts at 9.00: head down early and do some blind tasting of the Beer Star winners (fucking great time, this), have a look around, try some experimental Bavarian brewing university beers (Pils with Nelson Sauvin), have some complementary Orval (with their cheese), check out several draught Weyermann beers you’ll never see anywhere else AFAIK, English real ale (in Deutschland!), work through a dozen or so CAMBA Bavaria beers at their funny stand, have a draught Malheur at some Belgian machinery stand or other...it goes on.

And if a couple hours of checking that hour should turn out to suck, abandon the Brau and head to the Altstadthof or bike off into the countryside for some underhopped diacetyl-laden Vollbier.

It’s a big trade show for the brewing & beverage industry. Samples of new stuff! Pretty fucking unique experience, even if it does take you out of the quaint Franconian countryside experience...for part of a day. It’s also still a uniquely European Bier experience to complement your Eurobiervacation, FWIW.

And there are lots of beer people there. Met the guys from Victory two years ago, last year, only Euros, including that guy who blends his own lambics with Westvleteren, not that I’d ever drink such a thing myself. The Weyermann stand alone is worth the entrance fee.
