It seems like the main difference this year is that there are a lot more kegs everywhere. Bottles are probably all gone already, even though they did roughly triple bottle production compared to last year.

I’m with you, though, Eugene -- I like all the other Smokestack beers more, and am not very interested in having it again. It definitely doesn’t suck, just not my thing.

Yeah, Eric is right - I think I heard 2 1/2 times production.

I read an article that stated 3.5 times the amount they did last year. Anyways I did grab two bottles from Lukas on 135th. I really only wanted one for myself but I figured I would have a friend that missed out. Long story short, if someone didn’t get a bottle but they wanted one I would be more than happy to trade for another bottle of equal value (10-11 bucks).

We had well over 100 people waiting in line before we opened our doors yesterday. We had 40 cases reserved and 15 for first come first serve. We sold those 15 cases in 10 minutes with a 2 bottle limit.

It’s all the media. We have hundreds of calls a day from people that don’t know a thing about beer but have to try the chocolate ale. It’s pretty annoying really.

I stopped by a couple places on my way home from the airport and everyone was sold out or you had to be on a list. It looks like it is going for $7-8 a pour on tap? I just bought 6.6# of cocao nibs so I’ll just brew my own, you are all welcome to it.

We brewed roughly 2 and a half times more than last year. This was the max amount we could make while we are expanding our cellar. We removed 6 150 bbl tanks and are waiting for the 8 new 300 bbl tanks to come online. That is the truth. While we’d love for every man, woman, and child over the age of 21 to be able to purchase a bottle, it’s just not possible. We thought that making more kegs available would help as well. I think that no matter how much we made, someone would cry foul and say it’s not enough. The public reaction to this beer is nuts. It’s cool that it captivates an entire city, but the negative reaction really is a bummer.

I think that was very good. I was very happy to just be able to sit down at a bar with no hoopla and drink some.
