Is Bear Roots selling beer to drink on premise yet? Certainly looks like it from the facebook page. Can I go there and tick it as a brewery?

Heading to Lost Abbey to get Veritas tomorrow. Here’s the itinerary if anyone wants to meet along the way:

Lost Abbey
Magnetic
Home Brew Co
Resident
Bolt - Little Italy
Mikkeller

Depending on the time we might switch it up between Bolt and Resident since Resident doesn’t appear to open until 4pm.

Yes I went last weekend. Small place but kind of cool. They had 4 beers on. I had a Nelson pale that was OK.

Lost Abbey was surprisingly calm at 11. New Veriras is exactly what you expected: Cable Car culture with blackberries.

Made an unexpected stop at Abnormal. M2 is crazy sweet but not bad. The other beers are equally ok.

Magnetic is in the same shopping center as Helms. Meh at best, but the owner/brewer is a nice guy that you can nerd out with him about electrical theory. 1.5 bbl system, no distribution.

Homebrew Co might be the winner for the new ones today. Not amazing but decent all around. Despite being in a homebrew shop they have a 7 bbl system allegedly.

Resident is in The Local. Nice place, good service, beer is just ok.

Bolt, similar to Resident but the beer is worse.

Ballast Point Little Italy is fun but it takes forever to get a beer (as always). They have a tap with the governators face on it. Quality.

Thanks for posting. We were up hiking Palomar Mountain today and stopped by Valley Center Brewery. They are certainly hit or miss. They had 9 different sours on tap - they leave beer in a barrel outside for at least 12 months. Two of them were cheese bombs.

From what I hear (and the internet confirms) Pac City in Pacoima is dead and gone. Not sure if he ever really sold any beer. No tasting room and he only had one or two accounts.

Is OB Brewing the same as the place in Ocean Beach that burned down? Or maybe that was Pacific Beach, I don’t remember.

Another new one opened a couple weeks ago out in El Cajon called Burning Beard Brewing. They’re half way between Urbn St and that whole pile of breweries in Santee.

Pacific Beach Alehouse had the fire, but they are back up and running. I believe OB Brewing is going to open Memorial Day weekend, and is owned by the people of Newport Pizza and Alehouse.

Agreed; I tried them once last June and figured on giving them another try since I was driving right by but that may be my last stop.
