Victory Unity Kölsch
On tap at Parkesburg brewery. Light golden color with a good few inches of head. Little aroma as expected, but light grass and tingly hops. Mouthfeel was light and crisp. Taste was mild and very drinkable. light lemon and grass with minerals. Honestly could have been a pilsner if I didn’t know better (which I don’t). ABV was listed as 5.2 or 5.4. Just a fantastic drinkable light beer with tons of flavor. Probably one that is much better fresh than if it were bottled. Probably could go through a keg of this myself. Just fantastic.

Victory Blackboard Series Dry-Hopped Brett Pils
From a growler purchased at the Parkesburg brewery. Pours a very clear dark yellow. Little head but not much. Grassy, grimey, dirty but pleasant aroma. Mouthfeel is spot on for a pilsner. light, but not too light. Taste is very mildly bretty. Mainly it’s of a good, crisp, dry pilsner with mild brett funkyness. This isn’t a sweet pilsner, it’s more on the crisp and hoppy side; like most Victory pilsners are. Really, really enjoyed it. Too bad my fridge wasn’t working well and couldnt’ keep the growler cold!!!

Victory’s take In a KBS type beer is a nice effort. A little bigger than necessary at 14.3%, and it’s more strong flavors and sweetness than a ton of alcohol. Strong bourbon and coffee nose and flavor with some sweet chocolate notes as well. Nice sipper.

Victory Vital IPA
DATE: May 29,2016... OCCASION: easy Sunday night watching reruns... GLASSWARE: Brew at the Zoo pint .... APPEARANCE: swirling effervescence cascades upwards.... the golden body is clear and supports a thick, two-finger head that is white, creamy, and resilient... AROMA: flowery as lilacs, with some earthy malts balancing out the lemon-citrus allure of hops... the second wave is light cracker and bread... PALATE: soft, smooth and patient for an IPA, with a strong, finish and a staying aftertaste... slightly active at the teeth... TASTE: reasonable pine with citrus--orange, mango and lemon--while the bread and cracker provide an appreciable backbone... OVERALL: tough to find a reason not to like this offering, save that it doesn’t have any one outstanding aspect... highly drinkable and flavorfully fulfilling, this situates itself nicely between Dirt Wolf and Hop Devil... the floral aspects of the IPA do entice the sippability, but the flavor profile is respectful...

Victory Cage Radler
DATE: May 28 2016... OCCASION: easing into the second half of a productive yet hot day... perfect for a radler... GLASSWARE: Baltika stange.... APPEARANCE: pours a fervent, bubbling, murky, sallow yellow.... a four-finger head reduces its flourish to two tocky crags of car wash soap... large bubbles pass through the glass... ... AROMA: dish washer citrus impacts immediately, while some pepper is present...... PALATE: sharp, bubbly, impactful but brief... settles its flavor at the tongue... as advertised, easy drinking and heat-quenching... TASTE: lemon, pear and bubblegum make for an interesting mash-up...faint cereal malts keep this from being purely a high-powered lemonade... late bread grains.... OVERALL: this style will never fully appeal to me--save when I am offered the choice between this and Mike’s Hard lemonade or any of the other malt/fruit neon light varieties available at backyard barbecues.... still, in the 90-degree heat of the day, after a good workout, I feel bolstered by its light, mostly crisp citrus... slightly muddled by its malts, a reasonable effect...

Victory Blackboard Series Agave IPA
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained off white head, over a clear dark yellow (SRM 4) body......nose is agave, light grapefruit, light toasted malts, mild herbal hops......taste is lightly sweet, with grapefruit notes, mild allium, grassy tones, agave, finishing with a mild bitterness, balance to the additives......mouth feel, light body, mild alcohol, high carbonation with clean acid. This is a very light IPA. The hops are used with a light hand, the grapefruit juice is present as is the agave. The beer is more in the Pale Ale range of aroma and flavor. It is a light refreshing, easy drinking beer, it is just not a particularly good IPA. Rating above to drinkability, below to style. BJCP 7/3/12/4/6

This canned brew from a bottle shop poured a head of foamy with a frothy top fine to medium sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated transparent yellow colored body and a poor lacing. The weak aroma was floral and malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste. The ok flavor contained notes of crisp and hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is complex, with notes of coffee and bourbon barrels upfront, with a little vanilla and cocoa in back. Flavour is much the same, with loads of coffee upfront, followed bourbon barrels and a little vanilla. The booze is immaculately well-hidden, with just a touch of heat. The barrels are used impeccably and the coffee is still the frontrunner. Excellent.

Enjoyed on tap at Good Son in Denver, CO right after getting into town. I didn't take tasting notes, but remember this being a fantastically done lightly hopped Brett ale, which nicely incorporated the brett which I'm typically not a fan of. Would have again.

Dark brown. Small tan head. Aroma toasty malt and nuts and grass and herbs. Medium full body. Some booze. Flavor up front is unusually hoppy for a stout, pine and hay. Then the sweet caramel and roasted malts appear. Good I guess, found this one a little odd.

Pours bright red with a link head. The aroma has cherries, salt, brightness, melon and a rich quality. It has a light crisp body with bright carbonation and then gets a bit smooth on the finish.
