Victory Summer Love
Several draught pints at The Rock in Beloit, WI, late June. Sitting outside on a perfect 75 degree (24-degrees C to all of you anti-American Euro-Asiati-African terrorists) cloudless day, the briefest wisp of wind, eating the All-American burger & fries - and drinking this. It’s a very smooth-drinking, full-bodied (but not too full that I didn’t need more) summer beer, probably as close to perfect on that simple scale as anything I’ve had in what’s turned out to be a scorcher - the pour is, gosh, golden of course, not exactly clear but close enough, with a thin whisker of lasting snow...it’s bready-malty in the nose, with a little rosemary, a bit of honey...and on the tongue these characteristics deliver the beer equivalent of a very good, very light honey-wheat bread, not my favorite item from the bakery normally but heck I’ll take a great example of that over a very poor brioche or pumpernickel, wouldn’t you? and that’s what this is, an expert example of a not-that-exciting style. Here’s to more patio days, if it ever gets cool and dry enough again....

Victory Golden Monkey
Malty Belgian yeast aroma. Very clear, small head. Light spice flavor, sweet. Borderline cloying. Thickish body, surprisingly. Maybe thats from carbonation still in the beer because it didnt escape a lot in the pour. This is good to very good.

Victory Earth & Flame
Bottle shared by TJ on 7/23/16.
Quickly fleeting, off-white head tops a clear amber-mahogany.
Spicy pepper notes are backed by light caramel and toffee, lots of fruitiness showing cherries, sour peaches and light vanilla at the end. Not sure it’s supposed to smell sour-ish....
Phenolic, sour-ish, and beany with a huge pepper and light alcohol character. Fizzy, loose carbonation and light caramel-plum flavors on the end. What the hell is all of this phenolic character?? Yikes. No bueno.

750 ml bottle, thanks to Chalumeaux. Dark brown color, thin white head. Aroma is smoked peat, sour mash, Diacetyl daughter and sour dirty socks

You do not need a cicerone verification to know this has gone very very bad. Red wine, dirty socks and watered down ash trays. Gosh damn, awful. This goes down the drain. If you have it open and get rid of it. This has gone foul.

Victory CBC Tripel (2016)
I actually found this beer yesterday, so I'm not sure it should still be classified as retired. This was surprisingly good. Victory doesn't really dabble in the Belgian style, but they did a very good job making a legitimately Belgian tasting beer. It's got a sweetness to it that feels very light and pours a nice golden color. It's quite good.

Golden color with a large white head. Aroma is hoppy and a little fruity, quite light for a quad actually. Flavor is nice and hoppy up front, a little fruity with a touch of pine. Finish is incredibly malty sweet, basically where the quad part of the equation comes in. Finishes a little astringent, but it makes for an interesting combination.
