Fat Bottom Noel Spiced Christmas Ale
1/14/24 - Nashville, TN - on tap at Scoreboard Sports Bar. Dark amber pour, light but persistent bone colored head. Christmas spices in the aroma with some hints of clove and cinnamon. Full-bodied flavor, Christmas spices, nutmug, cinnamon, a hint of maple syrup and some rhubarb notes. Decently thick mouthfeel. Good winter Warner - very appropriate - it's snowing!

Mild hoppy aroma. Golden body, no head. Strong punch of hops up front with a malty backbone and balanced finish. Good stuff. I would have thought this had a higher rating.

16 oz. can from Kroger in Brentwood, TN. Pours a crystal clear light gold color with an off white head and good retention. Lots of streaming carbonation. Decent lacing. Belgian yeast aroma. Strong Belgian yeast and bready taste to match the nose. More hefeweisen taste than a golden ale. Light body. Too yeasty for my liking. The 6.2% ABV is well hidden.

6-pack of 16 ounce cans - $9.99 at Bullock's Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia. Appearance: Pours a light golden tone with lovely clarity and a full-on, frothy, white head. Smell: A mere whisper of baguette innards and scantly grassy, herbal-hinted hops. Taste: Just a smidgen of white loaf bread, a nibble of saltless saltine crackers and an ultra low sweetness imparted. An abrupt flash of herbal, citrus hops that is gone in an instant, leaving just a kiss of bitterness as the modest flavor recedes into the drying, crisp finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation. Overall: Keenly drinkable!

Can from Germantown Trader Joe’s. Definitely more of a smoked beer than a pumpkin beer. Lots of nice, peaty smokiness and dark roasted malt. Maybe a hint of vegetal pumpkin too. Smoky bitterness lingers. Enjoyable.

Pint, canned 02/17/2020. Clear, pale topaz with a thin disc of beady bubbles on top. Nose is crisp toasted grain with touches of honey and grassy herb. Flavor is the same plus a bit of an off-putting fusel note. Light-plus bodied with an astringent slant and too much explosive carbonation.

Interesting, a little on the sweet side but not by much, with an interesting floral undertone mixed with subtle berry, citrus, and clove. Grass comes through on the finish, which leads to a somewhat sugary fade, laced with prickly pear, vanilla, and flowers. Unexpected pink hue is rather pretty, and the texture's right. Just wide of the mark for me, but my wife sure does dig it.

750 ml. bottled 09/15/2017. Clear golden with a big Belgian style foam that dissipates slowly to a sticky cobweb. Aroma of spicy flowers, honey, toast and a hint of lemon. Flavors of spicy yeast, honey, toasted maize and touches of lemon and hay in the finish. Just a faint hint of white pepper in the aftertaste. Almost medium bodied with medium carbonation and a decent balance. A bit better than expected and a good deal on a closeout at $5/bottle.

Very thin, very dry, more like a glass of carbonated coffee than a beer. Quite acidic, with a strong coffee cherry middle backed by a lingering dark, dark roast bitterness. Metallic undertones are exacerbated by the lack of body; finish grows slightly tart and almost acrid. All around bad.
