FatPhil	3.7 Central Waters Black Gold 660ml bottle (Uba ja Humal US Strong Darks tasting, Tallinn) (7:4:7:4:15=3.7) Phone ate my rating - recreating! Oily black, tan ring head. Rich woody barrelly aroma, dark chocolate, some walnuts. Full palate. Taste matches the aroma, more bourbon, more vanilla, but more tannins too. Remarkably balanced for such a big beer, absolutely delicious sipper. I just hope the rest of the evening's line-up is as good as this ... no such hope warranted; this was the stand-out. Słodycz, wanilia, kokos, kawa. Nieco zbyt alkoholowe w smaku. Rozgrzewające. Czuć beczkę i dodatki. Dojrzewanie w beczce odejmuje trochę ciała. No i jest wysoko odfermentowane. This starts by showing dark fruits, brown sugar, and sweet malts. Down through the glass, the roast plus smokiness from the barrel take control. The alcohol presence is there, but dangerously not in the taste. Finishes smoky bittersweet, with balance. Didn't love the flavor meld, but it was very interesting. 14.7 Tuesday, January 2, 2024
