Bulk_Carrier	3.7 Casco Bay Carrabassett Winter Ale Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a ruddy burnt amber almost muddled brown color with a thin finger’s worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a fairly quick pace. Barely any lace. The aroma had some spicy to earthy to dried grassy mild hops flowing over some a biscuity maltiness and a light caramel to toffee smoothness. The flavor brings together the malts to the hops fairly balanced. Nicely blended malty to hoppy aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation feels good on my tongue. Malts seem somewhat slick on my tongue. Overall, pretty good English styled strong ale that I could come back to. Monday, February 6, 2017

Foxbush	3.5 Casco Bay IPA 12 oz bottle from Total wine and more The IPA poured a clear amber color with a frothy off white head. Nice looking ale with lacing! Mixed aroma greets you. Some caramel malts and pine resin. You detect in the taste the pine and spruce resin muted. They do not list the Hops used in brewing. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. tillmac62	3.3 Casco Bay IPA BBD 3/5/16. Pours a clear medium amber with a light garnet cast. Outstanding head volume and lacing, world class retention. Light nose of citrus over biscuit. Heavy light body with a bit of smoothness. Above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly finish. The flavor profile is good, but weak for an IPA. As a pale ale, this would be scored higher. Intensity is light, poor complexity but outstandingly balanced. You get a light herbal hop flavor, light bitterness and light biscuit. While a bit dark in color, caramel flavor never becomes noticed. The finish is a slow fade of herbal bitterness. Friday, August 14, 2015

SamP01	3.2 Casco Bay Oktoberfest Pours brown amber, has a medium off white head. Aroma on the pour is grains fruity and some grass, caramel malt and toasted grains come in as it warms up. Taste is grains, with some mild toasted barley and caramel malt flavors. A medium body with moderate carbonation on the palate. Finis is light toasted grains, some grass and fruity notes with a nice caramel malt ending, lightly hopped notes. Overall not the best in its class, an ok brew. Monday, October 6, 2014

Bulk_Carrier	3.5 Casco Bay Carrabassett Harvest Ale Reviewed from old notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a good thirty seconds. There was a light trickling lacing sliding into the beer. The smell had a really nice sweet to roasty to nutty to caramel to toffee conglomeration all invading and inviting to the Autumn season. The taste was malty sweet with a nice Autumn authentic roasty nutty toffee to let up a decent coffee in the flavor. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. There’s a nice rolling sweet smooth roasty coffee to sweet toffee nuttiness about my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Autumn brown ale that I would have again. TomTron	2.6 Casco Bay Carrabassett IPA Pours a clear copper with a minimal white head. Faint earthy hop aroma. Tastes more like an hoppy pilsner or a weak pale ale, but as an IPA this just doesn’t cut it. It severely lacks any hop character any IPA should possess and not much else holds up very well in any other part of this brew. Must say my first offering from Casco Bay is a disappointing one. PhatB420	2.8 Casco Bay Carrabassett IPA This is Casco Bay IPA, from the Casco Bay 12er variety pack I just picked up in Western, MA. Not sure why I cant find it, but this seems close enough. Abv reads 5.75%, aroma is muddled soil, grass, and hay, overall a complex farm like musty ipa. head is large and forthcoming, very nice, and holds up nicely as the brew settles. Taste is not overaly hoppy, maybe a tad more than a pale ale, no realy hop bite, but for a sessionable ipa this one can gravatate towards enjoyment as its composure still carries a microbrew mentality. Color is burnt oragne and bronzed cheddar cheese. Mouth feel is medium/full and carriers thoughout. Overall i was hoping for more bite and hopfullness in this, but rathers its a mellow ipa that grows on you as its sipped. Not that bad, but not that great either. Saturday, June 22, 2013

jeckenroth	3.2 Casco Bay Oktoberfest Pours a hazy golden brown with a thick, big bubble, long lasting head. The nose is a metallic, malty foreground with hints of sweetness and somewhat hoppy. Relatively high carbonation for the style with a medium body. The overall metallic taste is a bit of a distraction. The malt is nice, along with the hint of sweetness. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, yeast, fruity hops and perhaps nutmeg. Medium-bodied, lightly fizzy. Nice light rings of lacing. Tastes lightly spicy, nutmeg perhaps with light bitterness overlaying and carrying a light-medium bite through finish. Nice yeasty freshness. Smell: The aroma is a bit meek, but there’s some pale malts, orange blossoms, and a remote scent of wheat. Taste: Flavors tip-toe lightly around the tongue. Gently hopped. Mildly malted. With a mellow, though long-lasting, dry, orange juice-like finish. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Crisp and smooth, with just the right amount of soft carbonation. Unfortunately this beer doens’t hold a candle to that beer. It’s light, maybe a little lighter than I would define an APA. It lacks the hop profile i would like from an APA. Aroma is dominated by a slightly roasty, caramel malt character. Flavor is nutty, caramelly, and roasty, with a hint of diacetyl. Medium in body, but a little lighter than expected. Fairly drinkable.
