3.2 Ruby Mountain Quad Tap @ Flying Pie: Clear gold color. Clove, cinnamon and nutmeg in the aroma. Citrusy sweet flavor. Thick fee with the sugars. A little too Belgian-ey for me. Friday, February 2, 2018

3.9 Ruby Mountain Wild West Hefeweizen Grunt fill from Albertsons. Mostly clear golden body with huge rocky head. Perfect. Aroma too is spot on, grainy, bananas, bubblegum. Taste follows with more weizen flavors, bready and sweet. So far the best weizen I've had outside if Germany. Nice! Monday, November 6, 2017

3.2 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale Bottle from Total. Pours out a clear light russet amber color. Light tan head and lacing. Earthy-floral aromas. Bit of citrus and a roasty malt backbone. Some spicy bitterness. A classic old-school amber from the 1990s. Monday, October 23, 2017

3.4 Ruby Mountain Quad On Tap light haze deep amber. LIght on the Belgian yeast aromas and flavors. Yes, light fruity and some light brown sugar. Quite mild in all respects. Would not have guessed 11% Thursday, October 12, 2017

3.8 Ruby Mountain Quad Taster at BitterCreek. Good looking pour, hazy, medium amber, small, tight, creamy head. Gentle approach considering the ABV. Aromaleans towards fruity, grapes and prunes. Taste even more so, rich and earthy. Nice consistency, just short of chewy. Fairly sublime for a beer of this strength. Nice to see these guys experimenting with Belgian styles, and doing well. 3.5 Ruby Mountain Belgian Tripel Grunt fill from Albertsons. Pours a deep mahogany, small that fades. So far the color and body are off. Aroma and taste return to normal parameters. Belgian yeast and dark bready malts, floral, herbal. Thick and chewy, ABV creeps in late. Turned out Ok. Sunday, September 3, 2017

3.5 Ruby Mountain Belgian Golden IPA Draft at Growler Guys. Golden pour with a moderate white head. Aroma is mild Belgian yeast and light florals. Good Belgian yeast flavors throughout, a little more floral, and a light malty sweetness. Just a hint of sourdough. Overall pretty nice for a style that can be hit or miss for me. 3.7 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Poured amber with an off white head. Fruit and citrus in nose. Medium body. Flavor is caramel malts, and a lot of fruit, the citrus, and some floral aspects. Rich overall. Finishes bitter. Nice drinking and good for the style. Wednesday, March 8, 2017

3.6 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale 12 oz. bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. Clouded cinnamon color with just a little foam that is a few shades lighter. A sweet and fruity aroma is pleasing. Tangerine and dark fruit. This has that Cascade flavor that is such a throwback. Citrus and tropical fruit with moderate bitterness. Malts are nice but this seems more of a pale ale than an amber. Which is a good thing. It is almost a Cascade single hop beer. I am enjoying it quite a lot. I put that up and then the final two sips tasted like an amber. So it got downgraded a bit. Wednesday, March 8, 2017

3.2 Ruby Mountain Buckaroo Brew 12 oz. bottle from hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. A big beige head falls slowly into a rocky mass. A golden amber beer under that. Nose is toffee with spice, foral, and citrus notes. This might be a little old. It has a stale thing going on and the hops seem to have faded some. It is well carbonated, though, and is prickly in the mouth. That toffee and flower translates. Tangerines. A little sharp bitterness from grapefruit flavor. Not a great beer. 2.9 Ruby Mountain Buckaroo Brew Shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. Purchased nearly a year ago in Baker Nevada. Pour hazy gold with a big rocky beige head. Nose of light floral and citrus hops But very light. Medium body. Flavor shows light fruit, floral aspects, and a little citrus. But mostly malts. Finishes with a tiny bit of bitterness. Not offensive but very bland. Wednesday, March 8, 2017

3.4 Ruby Mountain Belgian Golden IPA Grunt fill from Albertsons. Clear, bright golden body, small, soft foamy head. Aroma favors the Belgian yeast, some citrus. Taste also features the yeast, more citrus, some drying bitterness at the back. Not overpowering, good use of the yeast here. Friday, February 10, 2017

3.1 Ruby Mountain Rudolph's Red Nose Grunt fill from Albertsons. Pours out a dark amber, huge fluffy head, clumpy lacing. Aroma leans more towards the malts, with nice hoppy notes. Hops figure into the taste more, bitterness right up front. Tails off quickly, a tad metallic, slightly watery. Saturday, December 24, 2016

2.9 Ruby Mountain Grapefruit Weizen Grunt fill from Albertsons. One of my faves from Germany was Schofferhoffer, so that’s the benchmark. It leaves a lot to be desired. Grapefruit cones through only in a smidge of the aroma, and a bit of citric tartness in the taste. Which leaves you with base wheat body, kind of bland and absent if any of the weizen flavors. Weak pour, but overall decent mouth feel. Friday, August 19, 2016

3.2 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale Bottle from bhensonb. Pours murky brown with a nice beige head and a toffee aroma. There is a medium-bodied raspy red malt flavor with a dry finish. Thursday, July 14, 2016

2.9 Ruby Mountain Grapefruit Weizen On tap at BeerNV. An ok if thin example of a weizen amped up fairly well with grapefruit tartness and flavor and aroma. Not a huge fan, but it’s been better than anything I’ve had from them in some time. Saturday, July 9, 2016

2.1 Ruby Mountain Buckaroo Brew Meh. I think this was a combination of it being a boring beer, and quite possibly being as old as dust. Dirt and cardboard present - not wuite dominant. Caramel and fruity malts and hops and a little bready. Saturday, July 9, 2016

3.5 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter Got this on draft at the Whispering Elms Bar in Baker, Nevada st the foot of Great Basin National Park. Pours brown in color with a light tan head. Nose of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee. Medium body. Kind of a thin mouthfeel Flavor is a bit earthy along with the roasted malts. The finish is earthy and bitter. Decent. 3.5 Ruby Mountain 20th Anniversary Imperial Amber Grunt fill from Albertsons. I noticed this brewery sticks to its flagship brews, so this is a special brew for them. I neglected to note the ABV, but I’m guessing in the 8% range. Pours out a milky, hazy brown with tan fluffy head. Aroma smells like a sweet amber, taste is smooth malt, milky (lactose?) but with some heat at the finish. Decent amber with some kick. Happy 20th birthday, Ruby Mountain! 2.6 Ruby Mountain Buckaroo Brew Bottle from Dart at Stateline. Pours translucent gold with a whitish head. Aroma of roasted malt, minimal hop, and I swear a touch of anise. Near med body. Malt isn’t very roasty, hop is not very bitter, and apparently no anise. More like a slightly hoppy amber than APA. Friday, June 5, 2015

3.2 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale Bottle from Dart at Stateline. Pours copper with a beige head. Aroma of spice, floral, citrus? over mildly roasty malt. Med minus body. Flavor is spicy/floral, malt not overly intrusive, pretty good beer for an amber.Finishes mildly malty and enough bitter to make up for that. Sunday, May 31, 2015

2.5 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter 0.355l bottle shared with The Tasting Crew. This is a deep dark ruby red colored one, it also has a small softly lacing dark beige top. Strange nose. Some old sun damaged chocolate and old brownie cake glazing. Sour cocoa butter with yeast and traces of phenol. Not a super aroma, but I think this is quite a old bottle. It has a just above average carbonation level, the small prickling kind and it feels thin oily in the mouth. Doesn’t taste all that bad really. Softly roasted with a gentle nice sweetness. Dry cocoa powder, nugatti and it’s rounded off with traces of burned sour thin coffee. Quite strange, but actually not bad. Just old. Older than it should be. 15.01.2014 Wednesday, December 31, 2014

3.4 Ruby Mountain Angel Creek Amber Ale "(used to) rival my favorite ambers. More consistently good than Red Horse, and just as good in the bottle as draught. Great amber for hopheads, but still has a nice malty backbone. 2010-too many off batches makes me think the quality of this brewer has slipped quite a bit. too many duds...tasting of bland malt and less hops. probably won’t buy again, which is a shame. anywhere from a 3 to a 4." 1.8 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter "i was hoping northern Nevada would be represented better than this, especially being that their Angel Creek Amber is so good...but this beer is weak & boring, even if it were classified as a brown. worst porter i’ve ever had." 1.9 Ruby Mountain Vienna-Style Lager main impression...not enough flavor. slightly sweet, slightly malty nose. a tiny bit of bitterness in the flavor and finish. that’s it. how can their amber be so good, and the rest so boring?" Thursday, October 16, 2014

2.4 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter Brown murky pour with a fast subsiding tan head. Aroma is somewhat sweet and estery like overripe banana. Taste is very moderate roasty, bready maltyness and a bit too faint all around. Slightly watery. Wednesday, January 15, 2014

2.3 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter Bottle, shared with BBGTC. Pours a near-black brown body with a small off-white head. Nose is estery mandarin, unripe banana, chocolate and hints of coffee in the back. Taste is chocolate, lactic sweet tones, mild leather and hints of nuts and licorice. Watery body, soft carbonation. Not really bad, just not very good either. Wednesday, January 15, 2014

2.9 Ruby Mountain Bristlecone Brown Porter (12 oz.bottle compliments of Kenny Boy) Nose of chocolate and notes of roasted malts. Pours a solid dark brown with a half inch, quickly disappearing, tan head producing abundent lacing. The taste is initially bready/grainy followed with a fruit sweetness in the finish. The promise of the nose is sadly unfulfilled. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. Overall, the lack of chocolate and roasted malts is disappointing. This anything but a "robust" porter.
