Terre Haute Champagne Velvet
Grainy and rough, like many of these throwback beers are. Full for a pilsener, with mostly corn notes and hothouse hops.

Terre Haute Velvet Amber
12oz bottle acquired in trade with atpayne (thanks!). Poured a medium to deeper amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of vegetables and light caramel in the background. Tastes where way off. Sour and buttery. On my way to the sink...

Terre Haute Gold Label Bock
12 oz. bottle. Poured a plum red brown with a small, fully lasting, ultra creamy off-white head. Nice lacing. Looks impressive. Aroma of chocolate and raisins - like raisinettes in my beer - with some other nameless sugary malty smells and some light alcohol. Flavor is - eeerreeech! - this is not a bock. This is a sour. Maybe an off bottle, but I’m willing to follow through and see where it goes. Apple cider vinegar and unripe apples, lightly sweet, seriously sour. Still, not unenjoyable, and a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. Weird, but good.

A great beer to replace all those macro-beers everyone is "used" to. Good reason to go to Terre Haute too.

Terre Haute Gold Label Bock
This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of mostly diminishing light brown colored fine to medium sized bubbles that left behind a good lacing and a transparent softly carbonated caramel brown colored body. The aroma was sweet with malty hoppy doughy notes. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and mellower in the finish with a thin flavor that was dry semi-sweet and only mildly bock like. There was a slight vinegar note mixed in with the malty base. Overall it left a dry mouth feel once quaffed.

Bottled. This stuff reminds me of Camo, but was $7.99 a sixer. Non existent head. Metallic aftertaste. Very thin and watery. One positive, though, is that the quicker you drink it, the better it tastes.

Terre Haute Velvet Amber
Pours very clear amber, with red and brown tones, with a minimal tan head. Aroma is malty, but very sweet and with a fruity vinegar aroma. Smells smooth but vinigar makes it a little off. Flavor is tangy from malt, but has a vinegar flavor that is off putting. Vinegar gives a fruityness but is’s messy and not put together well. The interestering aroma was the best part of it.

Draft In New Albany, IN. Dark brown color with a moderate creamy off-white head that diminished slowly. Moderate sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Complex bitter sweet malt and fruit flavor with a short bitter finish. Interesting below average brew.

Bottle. Small ivory head that mostly dissipated, fine, small, medium and very large sized bubbles, poor lacing, transparent, minimal carbonation, and a reddish brown hue. Aroma was malty, chocolate, caramel and sweet. Sweet, bitter, malty, thin, and weak. Smooth, thin palate. Light body. Not impressed.

Medium brown body with minimal head. The sweety flavor was almost fruity. Not so good.

Body is a medium amber hue. I usually don’t give such vague comments, but the only way to descibe this one is "weird." It just didn’t sit well with me.

A bottle from my parent’s home town of Terre Haute, Indiana. Tasted kinda like a newcastle (though I find the taste of newcastle quite inconsistent), though more germanic maltiness. Could’ve had a bit more aroma, but it tasted alright.

Dark, reddish-brown body. Not very aromatic. General malts, slightly sweet and slightly metallic. THe flavor is hard to palate, with its vitamin C-like astringency. Very acidic and very bitter. Could something have been wrong with the brew?

I think my sample may have been a bit off - it had a hearty, thick caramel and chocolate flavor, but it was cut with a major acidic, almost metallic bitterness that certainly didn’t taste like it belonged there - it’s a shame, because this seemed like it could have been a good bock.

Bottle: Cola borwn hue with a small fizzy lasting head and good lacing. The aroma isn’t too bad, caramel and toasty malts, subdued mocha, grassy and floral hops, and a hint of sour apple. The taste is another thing, starts malty but then a lactic note and vegetable undertone ruins it. The feel is fizzy and weak for something this "big". Arrgh I wanted this to be good, but alas, it was a waste of time.

"Champagne Velvet Gold Label Brand Bock Beer" - Bottle: Pours a cola color with a fizzled out white head. The aroma is faint - roasty with caramel and chocolate. This is watery stuff and I find it hard to believe it’s got a 7.5% ABV. The taste is caramel, chocolate, and a touch of dirtiness that may be representing hops. Clean finish. Finished.

Brown color. Didn’t notice much aroma coming off here. Had a sweet, candy, sugar, caramel flavor. Sort of thin dry mouthfeel.

On tap at BW3’s downtown Indy. Brown with red tones and a brownish head. Slightly malt aroma, but not much of a aromatic presence. Bananna flavor in the malt, fairly bready and a faint alcohol presence. Nothing really stands out at makes this a noticable beer.

Golden lager with a boiled vegetable aroma, and diacetyl. The diacetyl comes out in mouth too, but gets a reprieve from the malts and hops. Apart from the aroma , good lager. (July 31 at Indiana Microbrewers Festival)

This draft brew poured a small head of finely sized mostly lasting white colored bubbles that left behind a poor lacing. The body contained very soft carbonation, was transparent and yellow in color. Its aroma contained notes of malt hops and was very mild. Its mouth feel is initially tingly with a smooth palate and a hop finish. Its flavor contained grass pilsnerish malty hoppy notes. A slightly below average brew.

Draft at BW3 Downtown Indy. Small white head that was creamy and smooth with fine size bubbles that mostly diminished. Very little carbonation, transparent and a yellow hue. Aroma was malt, light hops, sweet, and corn. Flavor was malty and some hops with an unpleasant lingering aftertaste. Excellent lacing.

Terre Haute Cvar
This was my favorite beer of my visit to the tap room. Sparkling gold, streams of carbonation rising up to a short white head. FLoral and spicy in the nose. Body is thin yet bright; pale malt flavors, and a very spicy saaz finish that totally dries out. They used a generous amount of hops in this and no adjuncts as far as I could tell.

Brown/red, clearer body, with medium head and good lacing. Smells sweet with a hint of alcohol. Starts with some fizzyness in the body, then smoothing out into a thick bready sweet, very malty body. Luckilly hops show up at the end to add balance and provide a dry finish.

On tap at the tap room. Light yellow body, some lacing, no head. Body was thin with sweet malts (corn for sure here). Finish was nice - light pepper and dry.
