Po pierwsze piana spora o lekkim fioletowym zabarwieniu czapowata i bardzo trwala, praktycznie caly czas jest. Kolor metnisty ciemno brązowy z krwistymi refleksami. Pachnie owocami suszonymi a także swiezymi jagodami i borowkami. W smaku owoce leśne skapane w alkoholu klasy Porto, trochę alkoholowe bo tu te 8% wyczuwalne ale w tym przypadku nie przeszkadzające. Odd herbal nose, fizzy, bit thin, sweetish herbal,… Taste is bitter hay, liquorish, fizzy, weird herbal, bit thin & metallic older doppelbock feel to it. Bit thin & slightly fizzy. Pours brackish acajou, aroma of mould, articial sweetness, Haribo Kirschen left to age on the car dashboard in the sun, Glühwein and glögg spice. Taste is same, on an undefinable beer substrate, aspartame stickiness, late bitter hop appearance, reminiscences of meat gravy... Will not rate this down for tiredness post-bb, but for overall artificial fruit sweetness. // Rerate (forgot I had this before, this time side-by-side with Kriek Boon), bottle bb03/2014, 1yr+ past BB. Same smell of stale Glühwein and Currywurst, a semicrowded Weihnachtsmarkt in a middling East German town. Same spicy almond pit, curry, meat broth and cinnamon mix in taste, again some hop bitterness which is not unpleasant. Watery base, - a lager must be beneath. Compared to sicky sweet Kriek Boon or worse representatives of the style (St. louis, actually used for "Glühbier" on German Xmas markets, Mort Subite) the artificial components in this are not unstomachable and a fair rendition of the Belgian non-Bier style... Nice typical Altbier-yeast character, but the bitterness is too low for a good Altbier. The maltiness and the dryness is nearly perfect. Nice Altbier!
