Wombata	3.7 Karhupanimo Talviportteri Had a bottle at my bother-in-laws place. We probably bought it last year at the local Yakima bottle shop. The English label simply says, Sinebrychoff Porter and is listed at 7.2% alcohol, which differs from the above. Aroma: Sweet malt (reminds me of a German style), light smoke, chocolate, bitter coffee and then grain and yeast (the latter two characteristics I associate more with lagers). Palate: light medium body despite the initial sweetness. Flavor: Initially moderately intense smoke and sweet malt, Quickly turns to dry dark chocolate, bitter coffee, grain and yeast. Finishes bitter and dry. Comment: Interesting stuff. Hadn’t realized we drank a bottle of a now defunct beer. Saturday, August 9, 2014

Maku on paahteinen, yrttinen, salmiakkinen, maltainen, hennon savuinen, hieman hedeläminen, mutta jotenkin kova. Suutuntuma on keskitäyteläinen. Black expresso, long beige head. Taste starts with sweet fruits - pineapple, slowly dries to roasted coffee, salty licorice. Medium body, dry and roasted. Well done, liked this one. Fruity aroma with hops, sweet fruits and light nuts. Taste is light sweet. Medium body, slick feel, lively carbonated - carbonation is a "bit rough" on the palate, maybe a little over-carbonated? FatPhil	3.2 Karhupanimo Porin Pale Ale Tap (Cup and Pint, Turku) Allegedly they’re just trying this one out in a few pubs to guage the reception. Grainy, crips, light refreshing. Slightly sticky, sweet fruity hops. Mid amber, small tight head. Quite a dry taste, very pleasant, nice old-world hops. Taste is toasty with mild caramel malt. Nicely bitter finish. Medium bodied, a bit oily mouthfeel and low carbonation. Quite a good beer but aroma was rather weak. Wednesday, June 13, 2012

FatPhil	3.6 Karhupanimo Dry Stout Tap, several times (Viisi Pennia, Helsinki) 6+ Rich roasty. A touch of coffee. Something sharp too, which just takes the wow off. 5- Black, some ruby glints. Tight (yes, keggy) beige head. 7 Rich roast taste, dry and burnt, but not astringent. Not so complex, but what’s there is very tasty. 4 Full and smooth palate, decent carbonation. Light to medium bodied with soft palate. Toasted, dry flavor with light acidic note, Finish with espresso bitterness. Balanced and very style-like dry stout.
