TN_Gabe (7), , does not count - explanation | | May 16, 2012 My vote for #1 beer store in AVL. The ’staff’ is the owner. That’s almost always a good thing & in this case certainly is. Had a 2011 Breakfast Stout from the tap while I shopped and even through I was on a budget, still found some fun stuff without spending a ton.Looking forward to going back when I can buy more! | | Guyute_Pig (39), Black Mountain, North Carolina | | March 13, 2012 These guys just moved to a great new location just 50 yards away from old store. Expanded tap lines for tastings and great bottle selection. I think their pricing is better than the "other" bottle shop in town, but don’t move quite the same volume of beer. Expect it might change with location. Great staff, who are very friendly. Got to shop when in this part of town. | | beernovice39 (146), South Carolina | | February 26, 2012 Outstanding store. Excellant, informed, friendly staff. Good prices. | | tmongoose (41), Louisville, Kentucky | | January 23, 2012 Spent time talking to Geoff on Saturday morning. Big warehouse style with plenty to choose from. Great selection. He was very knowledgeable and we talked about 90 minutes. Made my purchases with a smile. Equally as goo dot if better in some selections with competitors. Will stop again on next visit. | | agl108 (30), Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania | | January 13, 2012 Large warehouse south of the main drag with a shit ton of wine and beers. IMO better selection than Bruisin’ Ales, I would imagine so given it’s at least 10x the size. Heady dude with a beard was more than helpful assisting me. Also mentioned that they were just about to relocate to a new facility so they can offer 12 drafts as well. Solid glassware selection, snagged 2 Fantome tulips on the cheap. | | SpringsLicker (101), Tennessee | | October 6, 2011 I found this place to be a worthwhile stop. A little bit off the main drag, but not overly so, with plenty of space for the wine and beer that they carry. It used to be a dance club the girl working there told me. She gladly checked in the back for what I was looking for and I got a 15% discount for a mixed case purchase of bombers that were already priced about $.50 less than what was over at another other leading Asheville beer store. Good selection of sixes, singles and some in the fridge. Virtually no windows to damage the goods and what florescent lights were there, were high over head near the ceiling some 25 feet above the floor. Worth checking out. | | magsinva (55), Virginia | | September 2, 2011 Another converted warehouse turned store in Asheville. The selection is quite good especially as the beer continues to take over more floorspace. Both brothers are very into beer and were able to give me some good suggestions about what I should try. The prices are slightly better or equal to bruisin, and much better than what I see in NoVA. A must visit along with Bruisin when you’re in Asheville. | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | August 31, 2011 Located in on an industrial block about a 1/2 mile from the entrance to the Biltmore Estate. Lots of space on the inside. They have equal inventory wine and craft beer. They had fairly strong Belgian and national craft selections. The service was top-notch. Both of the brothers, I forget their name off-hand, have a passion for their field and are happy to assist folks in finding something special. They also have a bar area with four taps. | | planbee (35), North Carolina | | July 21, 2011 AMBIANCE - Huge yet welcoming space with great music, friendly dog, pleasing atmosphere. There’s a section for extra special beers that is truly a pleasure to shop. SERVICE - Awesomely knowledgeable, helpful, friendly. SELECTION - More than enough of pretty much everything, plenty of North Carolina stuff, lots of cold offerings as well. VALUE - You might find things cheaper in some grocery stores, but as far as the good stores in town, they have the best prices. OVERALL - This will be my first stop every time I visit Asheville, which is a lot. Stock up here and then hit Bruisin’ and Hops and Vines to pick and choose. | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | June 21, 2011 Though I’ve been to Asheville three times now, this was the first chance I’d had to find this place. A bit off the main drag, but easy enough to get to if you know where it’s at. Visited on a Friday afternoon about 4:30 and I was the only one there. The gentleman working that afternoon was extremely helpful in pointing out specials, new arrivals, etc. Nice selection of imports, national micros, and good amount of NC beers. A few beers on tap, and I had one while I picked up some mixed sixers and a few bombers for the road. Worth a stop if you’re in town. |
