Proeflokaal Arendsnest

My last place visited after a week in the Netherlands. Had other places to visit, but I could not leave it was that good. Impressive amount of 50 or more taps from Dutch breweries, comfortable bar seating, very tasty bar snacks & friendly service

I have always made the Arendsnest my first stop in Amsterdam since 2004. Usually a great experience. 17 Aug I stopped in the bar (3 people were in at the time) and sat at the bar and chatted with anyone that came in. I was enjoying my last beer, now 7 people were in the bar, the bar tender asked me to move to the end of the bar because where I sat crowded people. I moved, finished my beer and told the bar tender she could have waited five minutes for me to finish my beer. I then wrote to a private email to Peter van der Arend in hopes for an apology, explanation or he would speak to the bartender. I have heard nothing. After 17 years of visiting, I won't be making this my first stop and will go to the other bars that always welcome me to sit at the bar.

First of it has 52 beers on tap. Many local, some international. Really nice ambiance, what I would expect of a historic Dutch bar in the area.

Nice selection of beers in a cute bar. Definitely worth a try if in Amsterdam :)

World-class bar. Fairly small and intimate. 50+ taps, with everything available in 0.15L pours, so very rater-friendly. Taplist is pretty much all Dutch, with tons of sexy beers on tap. Service is elegant and prompt, though impersonal. Absolutely mandatory stop when in Amsterdam.

A comfy old-school decored bar located centrally in Amsterdam. 50 beers on tap, mostly Dutch. We tried about 10 and they were all in good condition. Service was very nice and quick. Small glasses available. A real treat!
