COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
English Language Label: This is one half of a Black & Tan. Not just any Black & Tan, but one where a toasted smug and hoppy fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this profoundly evil Imperial Stout solo).

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2022 En cave depuis 2019. Liquide noir avec mousse abondante et compacte. Nez prunes, café, fumé et herbacé. En bouche, c'est une attaque réglisse, malt torréfié devançant une belle amertume houblonnée et légèrement anisée, complexe et appréciable !!!

Brigadier (4930) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 10, 2022
UPDATED: JUL 10, 2022 12 ounce bottle A very potent imperial stout has held up well since being purchased quite a few years ago. It's nice to see these sorts of things being freed from the cellar though I imagine it could have held on for a handful more years with no issue. AROMA / APPEARANCE The thick oily nose blends black coffee with tropical aspects. Sweet dark fruit includes strong plum notes. The oily base and mocha head swallow the darkness with a light reddish fringe provided for contrast. FLAVOR / PALATE The sticky mouthfeel crawls over the palate with a blend of plum, raspberry, and coffee. Chocolate notes pair with tropical aspects for a while before the big boozy finale. A strong chocolate bitterness bites at the throat with a warm afterglow. While it might have lost a little potency this is still better than many fresh imperial stouts.

beerplace (8829) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 18, 2018
355ml bottle from Spirits of Mt. Seymor LRS. Pours an almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is sweet, some molasses, leather notes. Similar taste with roasted malt notes, some light burnt sugar, sweet berries, and hoppy bitterness. Roasted malt hoppy aftertaste. Very nice, a good representative of the style.
