New Basin Stout has a very thin, beige head, a dark brown appearance, and minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, dark-roasted malt, bread crust, bread or cookie dough, possibly, and cream. Taste is of those elements, with a slight char and acidity. Mouthfeel is rather light and watery, and New Basin Stout finishes dry and highly drinkable. RJT

I had this one in New Orleans. It’s a sweet milk stout. Very smooth and refreshing. Pretty light and very sessionable, especially in the summer. A good beer to mix in with the regular seasonal IPAs.

On tap at Cooter Brown’s in New Orleans. Pours a deep brown/black with a tan head. Cocoa and toasted malt comes through, light tart notes. Faint herbal hops. It’s a nice malty moderately creamy with a light sweetness and again some tart notes. Chocolate and medium bitterness. Decent.

so i was at the Pub, over in New Orleans. its a fun place don’t you know? .. well it poured dark, like super dark. it’s one of those dark beers you hear about. .. stop it meg! .. a very well balanced stout ale, earthy .. i want some shrimp grits to go with this .. . . i miss my innocent youth, like humping my stuffed animals and eating glue in copious amounts...
