À peine remis de cette folle dégustation de Nectar Sauvin, je commande ce verre qui devrait me ramener sur terre. Non pas que j’anticipe une moins bonne bière - car le Cheval ne brasse que du très bon, mais le style ambré est pour moi moins excitant qu’une IPA avec un dry-hop de Nelson Sauvin. Liquide effectivement ambré sur lequel flotte une mince et persistante mousse. Belle torréfaction au nez ponctuée par des malts à la fois grillés et caramélisés. Houblon feuillu présent au rendez-vous. C’est frais tout en étant affirmé. En bouche le liquide est à la fois trop mince et effervescent pour moi. Saveurs terreuses et courtes, sec, torréfié. Amertume efficace en fin de bouche malgré un sucre présent. Je ne suis pas bouleversé.

Not bad for a red. Red color with tiny white head. Poured from draft at Le cheval brewpub in Montreal. Tangy fruity and slight sour kick. Actually pretty good.

tap on the premises. clear light golden with a very small off-white head, little retention, no lacing. soft nutty and fruity caramel, grass, citrusy, touch of flowers, bit of pepper, clean yeast if not absent, some cnalky notes. moderate carbonation, light body - watery, short and bland herbal-grassy finish. weak brew - should also sell this one. meh.

On tap @ Le Cheval Blanc. Clear dark amber with a light ring of white foam. Aroma is nutty and mineral with caramel, English hops and light fruits. Taste is about the same. Mild. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Decent, but a tad boring and bland. It’s not easy to be an Amber Ale nowadays....

On tap at Cheval Blanc. Pours amber with almost no head. Aroma is of malt, fruits. Taste is of malt, very slight roasted stuff, sugar, some metal. Palate: Light body. Overall: Good, but not much to say about that one, so maybe I would not seek it again.

Reddish colour, some sweet malt nose. Nothing spectacular but a solid amber beer. On tap at brewpub, Montreal.

Pours red with great head and lacing and ok lace. Light lager like beer with slight rusty tinge. Average carbonation. Finish light sourness with some crisp. Tap at brewpub.

Dégustée en fût sur place. de couleur ambrée et voilée. Nez malté de caramel doux, léger de levures fruitées (agrumes) avec des notes de de houblon floral et de pain grillé. Rondeur moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen. Léger goût de levures fruitées (agrumes) lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût malté sucré de caramel doux aux notes terreuses et rôties ainsi qu’avec des traces de toffee et de pain puis en finale l’on retrouve goût légèrement amer de houblon floral avec des petites notes herbeuses. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de houblon floral avec des notes d’agrumes et quelques traces épicées (poivre doux). (printemps 2006)

On tap at Le Cheval Blanc, pours hazy amber wit a medium beige head. Aroma of dry caramel malts, earthy notes and some fruitiness. Flavour of berry-like dark fruits upfront, some dry caramel malts and earthy hops. Fairly full-flavoured considering the style and ABV, and very well-balanced. Quite drinkable.
