COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stoudt's Double IPA is a strong, full-bodied ale with an intense hop character and deep golden color. This unusual brew is characteristic of the newly recognized style of extremely hoppy and malty ales of American origin. The Double IPA is our strongest beer with an alcohol of over 10% abv and bitterness of more than 75 IBU's. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer. 10% abv.

Golden, reddish pour with clouds and a thin white foam. Strong hoppy nose that has a little of everything. The citrus and floral notes seem strongest. The malts are sweet and caramel and manage to pick up the floral aspect of the hops. Very active carbonation, slick texture and slightly sour finish. On the tongue, some resiny notes come out in the hops, but it is still heavily bitter citrus. Almost tangy. Strong alcohol kick.

This was my favorite beer. Nice fruity aroma with a nice bitter kick however Gate City Hopface has taken them over. Regardless Stoudt’s is my favorite location brewery in the country. Their beer fest is amazing and their restaurant us to die for. Highly recommended. Don’t miss the chance to get a little German culture and fantastic beer!

Hop and malts right away on the aroma. Initial taste is sweetness that builds until the mild bitters overtake it. Left on the palate is a slight bitter, while the malt is dominant. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from 12 oz. bottle. Cloudy, amber-orange with a cement-colored head and very good lacing. Aroma of pine, mango, hay, stone fruit, red berries, leaf duff, floral hops and fruity malt. Taste of fruity malt, resin, hay, well ripened stone fruit, earthiness, floral hops, mango and more. Medium/light body and medium/low carbonization. A very complex imperial IPA and very challenging to describe. Not like any other IPA I've tasted. But, I love complexity, so I'm happy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught @ Albion. Dark orange with smal beige foamy head, light floral hops aroma, low carbonation, sweetish hoppy taste with grassy flavor, smooth texture, longish finish with low bitterness. Interestingly not bitter enough as advertised.

Aroma is a little off putting, but the nice blend of sweet, fruity character blends well with with hint of pine hops at the end. Picked up in Asheville in 2015.

Jabah (2555) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - APR 10, 2015
This is almost like a wine, a bit sweet for a double IPA, but the aftertaste is hoppy to balance it out a bit. Not much carbonation, but that is probably planned to bring out more of the flavor. Pours an orange-dark gold color. Semi-hazy medium texture. Pretty strong alcohol content. Overall a top-notch beer.
