Draft pint at the brewpub. Picture perfect. Tan topped and stoic. Single word: Excellent. Woody and outdoorsy, smooth and silky too. (#3665, 9/13/2009)

Cask Stillage at the GBBF Earl’s Court, London 08/08/2008 Roast and some fruit aroma. Dark red coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy with some alcohol present. A little dryness and bitterness in a crisp finish.

[2178-20090520] Tap. Mild chocolate malt roast aroma has some peas thrown in. Black body with a thick long-lasting creamy tan head. Roasted malt grains flavour has some dry bitter notes throughout. Full body is a little thin. Average, could hold more bite.

2009-05-20. Picture perfect black with a rich creamy brown head, leaves similar lacing on the glass. Initial sip of non descript sweet dark malt is quickly overtaken by a grainy dry roasty bitterness, brief odd note in the finish has a mineral touch with the roast. Aroma is milder than expected, slow building dry roast, notes of coffee and mocha akin to a pile of roast barley and freshly ground dark malts. (6+) Smooth average palate is light for my tastes but is in keeping with Irish examples of the style. On tap at Franciscan Well, Cork
