Vintage 2008. 250mL bottle, pours a motor oil black with a tiny head. Nose brings out lots of soy sauce, oxidation, dark fruits and liqueur. Flavour is actually pretty good for being so old, with soy sauce, some dark cocoa, dark fruits and a touch of roast. Very well-balanced and complex. Surprisingly nice for such age and oxidation.

Opaque black stout. Low carbonation. Sweetish stout part of the sweetness is lacto. Rich rich malt but not hard roasted at all. Some licorice and subtle Port Wine notes as well. Shows it’s strength just a little at the finish. A pretty decent stong stout this and in a sensibly sized 25cl bottle.

(Draught) Pours black. The aroma is heavily roasted and medium to heavily hoppy with tones of oily espresso, dark chocolate, dark berries and fruits alongside grapefruity, “green”, vegetal and resinous hops. The flavour is heavily roasted and medium hoppy with notes of coffee/espresso, green/resinous hops and dark sugar. Light sweet and fruity finish. The mouthfeel is fat, round, oily and light sticky. Aftertaste of hops and coffee. Full bodied.

Tap @ Fairbar. Pours black with no head. Aroma of hard roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, dried dark fruit, light notes of smoke. Taste is very smooth with roasted malt, coffee, plums, raisins, chocolate, port. Full smoth body, low carbonation ( was aged 2 - 3 years at this point ) no signs of booze. Exellent stout, full flavored, smooth and easy drinking. Shame this was the ever last keg of it. 141010

Koelschtrinker (28835) - Brewver-Town, GERMANY - MAY 8, 2011
7/12/9/12/8/12
