Jabah (2555) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - MAR 5, 2019UPDATED: MAR 5, 2019 I wouldn't have been happy paying full price for this. Decent beer, but worth more towards the 1/2 price that I paid. Could be because the bottle wasn't fresh, so for an unfiltered beer this style...sitting around a year can't be good. Flavor sort of American Pale-Alish, a little more bitter towards the end. Also seemed overly carbonated, but that also could have been cause of the age. I'm certain that a fresh bottle would have a had a rating of a few more points. Still not much greater than the average.
Bulk_Carrier (6064) - Vermont, USA - JUL 22, 2014Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener.
The appearance was a soft golden yellow color with basically all head. I have had this beer three times and all three times, the head was always the same, no matter how slow I poured it.
The smell had some light sweet corn to light spice.
The taste was mainly sweet but still had a light spice to it.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was, well let’s just say, it was more than definitely seen in the beginning appearance and once again it’s definitely felt in my mouth.
Overall, interesting to say the least, perhaps a bit too carbonated.
Bitterbill (3241) - Casper, Wyoming, USA - JAN 19, 2014The label on this bottle says it is 4.9% abv.
It pours a slightly hazy medium gold colour with over a 1 finger head of foam but doesn’t leave a lot of lacing.
The smell is big grain that reminds me of an AAL. I truly can’t smell anything else.
The taste took me by surprise. Very hoppy and very bitter. Grapefruit flavour that is more bitter than I’m used to. It has an earthy malt presence that doesn’t seem to bring any balance. Some grainy notes now just showing up. Weird.
Lots of carbonation, imho...too much. The body is nice.
Interesting brew but not something I’d want to drink again.
damzz (989) - Methuen, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 11, 2013This the 4.9% version in a 22 oz bottle. Pours an opaque, cloudy light yellow. The head is long lasting, fluffy white with lacing and sculpting. The nose is hops. The palate is light medium body that is dominated by hops. there is no balance to this beer. It is a dry beer.
jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 22, 2013Murky orange-amber with good, delicate, flotsam, off-white head, decent legs / Sweet, malty nose of sour malt, honey, brown sugar, cooked citrus / Medium body, malty, moderate sweetness, lightly sour, good hop balance and bitter finish / Malty flavors of sour malt, bread, caramel, turning apple, dry hops, nutmeg, light clove / Not the sort of beer that I typically go for - malty, sweet, muted fruit, but this one grew on me. Nicely balanced. Would be nice on the patio in October.
maxwelldeux (4373) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - MAY 14, 2013Bottle. Blew up in my face - there are at least 5 ounces of beer soaked into my pillow right now. Pours a hazy golden color with a ginormous white head. Nose is very lager-ish and heavy. Taste is much the same, with the same heavy and carbonated feel.
craftycarl21 (2338) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 20, 2012Bottle thanks to Zack Shelton. Pours a hazy straw, solid frothy head. Nose and flavor much like Beer of the Gods, with good crisp noble spicy hops, very light bready malt balance, and grassy bite as well. Clean and well made.
hopdog (25009) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 31, 201222oz bottle. Poured an amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of grains, citrus, floral hops, and some fruitiness. Tastes of grains, some bread, citrus, and the same lighter fruitiness.
RichardW (1813) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - AUG 27, 2012Bottle. After a journey in a suitcase, I wonder if the yeast unsettlement affected this. Very sour aroma, deeply fruity with a tart, astringent finish. Lots of fruit cake and spices late on. Extremely lively, ended up pouring a 660 ml bottle into a jug, a pint glass and a half pint too. Hugely foaming headthat never settled down. Very unusual
SrSilliGose (3351) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUL 20, 2012Bottle. And this bottle said 5.4 abv, so who knows what to make of the editor noge that it says 6package something on the bootle. Notes of lightly dank, herbal hops. Touch of grapefruit. Light biscuit dough malts. Decent.
