cousse99 (7) - gent, BELGIUM - JUN 14, 2001 does not count the best strong beer of belgium.
But don't drink too many of them..........
Perkeo (322) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 29, 2003Looks like Budweiser. Smells like gin. Tastes like Heaven. Drink too many(like, maybe four), and the next morning is hell. Beer perfection!!!
HoppyBunny (88) - Temptation, Michigan, USA - JAN 6, 2004Duvel me baby! This beer has a thick rich light head on it that you try to penatrate through to taste that bubbly champange like taste you get. On any holiday you will find me at one time or another with a glass of Duvel in my hand.
DerBiermeister (585) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - NOV 6, 2004The Belgians simply make the best beer out there. This is of amazing quality and taste, the palate intricate and made with seeming theological love...almost...godly. I love this beer. Its head is large, its lacing pleasant, its taste sweet and yet briny, as of the ocean, tasty and full, beautiful and lovely. On the bottle it uses the word ’perfection’. It is near that.
punkeedo (499) - Covington, Louisiana, USA - NOV 6, 2004This beer...wow...this beer is amazing. I can’t possibly describe the wonders of this ale in words. It is sweet, with hints of sweetness and slight, as DerBiermeister notes, saltiness. The appearance is wonderful--a strong cream-colored head with a dark amber base. The taste is extremely full with caramel, malts, hops, and a veritable abundance of goodness. In short, it tastes like happy.
BlurFan (8) - USA - NOV 22, 2004 does not count This beer blends the best of everything which explains why it is poured every Christmas in my household, despite its name.
djswiffer (2) - BELGIUM - DEC 24, 2004 does not count This beer is there to be drunk whenever you want. But as a Strong Ale it’s best to stop after a while... Because it’s too good to waste when people are drunk! Then take something else!!
fraans (31) - ostend, BELGIUM - JAN 11, 2005What to say... This is certainly the best beer in Belgium.
the only drawback is, that you can only drink so much. After 10 of these you’ll start singing, if not earlier ;)
beersnob73 (14) - Florida, USA - JAN 14, 2005Perfection in a Belgian Ale. Nice arome, no aftertaste or bitterness. Definately worthy of a high rank.
mookie (45) - Tacoland, Texas, USA - JAN 29, 2005pours very lively. light hazy gold to yellow straw color, bottle conditioned. explosive. very effervescent. huge yeasty, hoppy, fruity, citrusy, spicy, and honey aromas. foam so dense, like shaving cream, not going away. superior mouthfeel, soft and champagne-like action on the palate. flavor much like the aroma. champagne and bread come together with bright citrusy, spicey hop flavors, light candy sugar and malt, moderate bitterness, and alcohol. dry finish. flavors linger with a prickly sensation on the palate. strong, soft, bubbly, and quite complex. an everlasting gob stopper. kind of like the farmhouse ales from belgium, a tripel crossed with a saison. i can’t think of one single reason to give this less than a perfect score.
