Il Forteto Castagna Amber Beer
750 ml bottle at Paluca Trattoria on Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey. Particulate yeast in the bottle. Pours slightly orangey amber with a thick, frothy, white head that lasts long. Thick, luscious lacing - more like curtains. Nose is barnyard and fresh apple cider. Taste is well-balanced: notes of musty, fruity sweetness and an edge of bitter hop bite. Not sure I pick up any chestnut, but I imagine it might be there in the aroma notes while sipping. Medium body, soft carbonation. Rather nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Il Forteto Castagna Amber Beer
Direi semplicemente che forse avendola portata per cena a casa di amici, e che fortunatamente essi non sono grandi appassionati della suddetta bevanda, non mi hanno mandato a quel paese...

Il Forteto Vernata
Capped 750 from Ledgers. There’s a lot of "stuff" in the bottom. It develops tiny bubbles from that, raising a few floaties and some slowly creeping foam. Unpasteurized and unfiltered. Pours hazy gold with a small white head. Mildly tart/spice aroma. Maybe a "strange grain" too. It’s interesting. Med body. Smooth carb. Flavor has hints of citrus. It’s pretty mellow stuff. Nothing excessively strong in flavor. But it has persistent herb/spice flavors on into a fairly dry finish.

Il Forteto Castagna Amber Beer
750 from Corti Bros. Pours reddish orange with a modest beige head and a distinct chestnut aroma. There is a smoky caramel malt flavor with a very earthy feel and a bone dry finish. This is an unusual brew that, surprisingly, tastes pretty good to me, but it’s not for everyone. It does, indeed, go well with ripe cheese.

Il Forteto Clara Blonde Beer
Capped 750 from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Pours dishwater orange gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of light pitted fruits and herby hop. About medium body. Hop wise this suggests a pilsner. Except for the amount of fruit it probably would fool me. The taste is good, and the apparently noble hop is just excellently bitter. I keep thinking imperial pils based on the bitterness level. I really like this low ABV beer. Lots of good hops make up for the lack of ethanol.

Il Forteto Rubra Red Beer
Capped 750 from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Pours as a hazy, slightly ruddy, amber with a 3 finger frothy collapsing beige head. Nose is citrus, along with a little caramel and hot bits. Near full bodied. Flavor starts grapey! There is some light citrus, possibly zest. It’s fairly dry, and decently bitter. After I get past the "grape", it seems lightly bready. Then the "grape" returns. Let’s just say there’s malt, fruit and mild spice. It drinks pretty darn good, and I do think it would go well with spicy food. If the curry shows up soon, I will find out!

Il Forteto Castagna Amber Beer
Capped 750 from Corti Bros. in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy amber with a near white head. Light aromas of yellow stone fruit, caramel and nuts. Med body. Flavor is sweetish malt with light fruit and something very like chestnut. Perhaps a bit of smoke in the finish. Somehow the whole thing works out fairly balanced.
