Russian River STS Pils
Beer Zombies Vegas. Pint glass. Clear, slightly dull, oily gold with some dirty head. Grainy, steel, a little veggie & rose scent. Fruity dry, astringent herbal-ash premium lager. Frothy, off-dry, a touch ugly. Expected more from the brand.

Russian River Intinction - Sauvignon Blanc
Bottle from Khoury's in Hendo outside of Vegas. Bottled on 091721. a few hours in the fridge. Mojito glass at home. Flaaaaaaat. Maybe a bit of sizzle here & there. Hazy honey gold pour. Taste is yummy though. Wine-y sour, white punch, hopped astringent cider tropical, peach sorbet, nice level acidity with some protein body. Still pretty good.

Beautiful. Aroma is fantastic. Low malt/lower abv for Plinys. Not that Blind Pig isn't great, but this is an amazing single.

Russian River Cuvee 007
Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated August 25, 2021. Aroma is fruity and malty. Nice cherry pie notes with notes of candied cherries, cassis, berries and apricots. Hints of lemon. Medium light notes of caramel and toasted bread. Light alcohol and oak notes. Pours a fairly clear, dark copper color with auburn hues and a small, moderately thick, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a light acidity and medium light malt notes with toasted bread, caramel and some crackers. Medium low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately fruity with notes with cherries, cassis, raisins, and berries. Faint oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid wild ale from Russian River (no surprise there). Nice fruity notes with balanced malt profile and just a touch of acidity.

Russian River Pliny for President (2024)
Bottle. Pours a clear yellow hue with a large white head. A big bouquet of floral hops, citrus. Big sweet citrus, some dank elements. But damn this is as smooth as ice. I could drink 10 pints of this.

Bottle. Colour...clear, light gold, like what I'd expect for the colour of a pilsner. Nose....fresh but dusty hops with both a floral and citrus aroma. Palate...very clean and dry but with plenty of hop character that leans towards jasmine and quince. The mid palate offers grapefruit pith and peach skin and the finish is moderately long. The ABV seems lower than is listed.

Russian River Small Batch: Intinction Merlot-Grand Cru
Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated September 18, 2020. Aroma is grape forward with lots of Merlot notes as well as some grape must. Fairly fruity with plum and cherry notes with hints of berries. Medium light tannins and light oak. Light alcohol notes and faint grain notes. Pours a pinkish red color with a small, thin, forced, slightly pink head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor is fairly dry with a medium light acidity and light grain notes. Moderate bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong Merlot notes with nice plum and cherry notes. A good amount of tannins and must notes. Hints of oak. A bit of a watery finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with very low to almost no carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but the lack of carbonation really hurts the flavor and mouthfeel. Nice grape notes, especially in the aroma. A bit too tannic.

Russian River Cuvee 006
Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated June 23, 2021. Aroma is really nice with notes of green grapes, lemon, pear, cherry and lighter notes of earthy funk. Light oak notes and hints of alcohol. Faint grain notes. Pours a slightly hazy, gold color with a medium sized, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes to a small film that lingers. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light acidity and light grain notes. Medium low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Medium light green grape and lemon notes with lighter notes of stone fruit and pear. Light earthy, musty notes and light oak notes as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really solid offering from Russian River. Really nice aroma that's fairly fruity with some funk to balance it. Flavor is a bit less fruity but still really nice and not too acidic.

Russian River Cuvee 005
Poured from a 520 ml bottle dated February 12, 2021. Aroma is fairly fruity with notes of red wine grapes, blackberry, cassis, raisin, cherry and prune. Light notes of chocolate, caramel and toasted bread. Hints of oak and light alcohol notes. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a large, thick, pillowy, tan head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Medium lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly acidic with a light sweetness. Light malt notes of toasted bread, caramel and hints of chocolate. Low bitterness and light alcohol notes. Flavor is fairly fruity like the aroma with lots of berries, cassis, cherry and prune notes. Some raisin and red wine grape notes as well. Faint oak notes. A bit of a watery finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid dark wild ale. The fruity notes in the aroma had me prepared for a fairly sour beer but this is only lightly acidic. Nice fruitiness in aroma and flavor. Really easy drinking for a dark wild ale, a style I don't usually like.

Bottle (of course). Bottling date 02/29/2024. I can find no fault with this beer. I loved it in every way. As I see it, it is the reference standard by which all other DIPA's are judged, or should be judged by. There are certain beers that are the best basis for comparison--SNPA for Pale Ales, Dupont for the saisons, Speedway for coffee stout, Schlenkerla for rauchbier and Pliny for DIPA. Go ahead, argue with me.

Russian River Blind Pig IPA
Wrote a positive review for this on another site a few years back & I felt it needed a revisit. Bottle from Khoury's in Hendo. Stemless wine glass whole cleaning out the hotel fridge for checkout. Clear, light to medium gold, tall fluffy head, sticky lace; appetizing. Sweet citrus & oily pine nose. Pine resin, lingering white grapefruit pith, salty crackers, earthy dryness, slight acid, lovely thin & frothy body. Okay flavor but the texture is 7/5. Great.

Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated October 15, 2020. Aroma is somewhat malty with notes of toasted bread, light caramel, cherry, and crackers. Some fruity cherry pie, berry and red wine notes. Light oak and hints of alcohol. Pours a slightly hazy, auburn brown color with ruby hues on the edges and a medium sized, thick, frothy, tan head that recedes fairly quickly to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a light acidity. Medium light notes of toasted bread, caramel, cherry, raisin and crackers. Light notes of cherry pie, berry, red grapes and cassis. Light bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Hints of oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer with some fermentation notes that remind me of a oude bruin or a less fruity Flanders red. Aroma is fairly fruity, but flavor is a bit muted.

Russian River Small Batch Series: Grape Pomace Beer
Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated February 27, 2021. Aroma is somewhat fruity and grape forward but not particularly juicy. More of a Welch 's grape popsicle note with some must and tannins. Hints of grain and oak with light alcohol notes. Pours a nice, reddish purple with redder hues on the edges and a small, fairly thin, slightly pink head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. Faint lacing and small legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with a light acidity and light grain notes. Medium light bitterness and light alcohol notes. Fairly grape forward flavor with some Welch's notes but also nice Cabernet notes, some tannins and must. Hints of berry and dark fruits. Hints of oak and musty funk. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a fun beer. Very grape forward with the beer taking a back seat. Not really acidic at all, just a bit of tannins. Some nice fermentation notes and oak character.

Poured from a 510 ml bottle dated December 28, 2021. Aroma is fairly fruity and a grape forward with lighter notes of peach, apricot, pluot and lighter citrus notes. Light oak notes and alcohol. Light malt notes. Pours a slightly cloudy, pale, yellow-gold with a medium sized, medium thick, frothy, white head that recedes quickly to the center and disappears. Flavor is slightly acidic with a touch of sweetness and light grain notes. Low bitterness and low alcohol notes. Not as fruity as in the aroma but still quite a bit of grape and grape must with lighter notes of stone fruit and hints of citrus. Hints of oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid beer from Russian River. Nice complex fermentation notes with good fruity characteristics and barrel notes. I was expecting this to be more acidic, but it's only lightly acidic with a dry finish.

Bottlecraft, Little Italy, 2/24. Dense, hazy, dull cherry, lacy, stagnant pour. Cherry medicinal, herbal hop nose. Deep cherry, vinous, soda burn, lime, slightly medicinal. More tart then sour. Bruin finally comes through on the finish. I remember this being better.

Bottlecraft, Little Italy. Last repeat stop before hipping back on a plane. Clear, dull medium gold, lacy pour. Bitter burnt onion & cat piss nose. Onions, saline, bitter kale, minerally finish, acidic. Thin, easy, frothy. A boring hazy in sheep's clothing.

Russian River Beatification (Batch 002+)
I rated this a few times, wtf. Maybe on BA... Bottlecraft, LA, 2/24 Clear, medium gold, nicely frothy. Followed it up with another half pour just to be sure. Hop water, apricot, cider vinegar, cigarette ash, veg. Sharp, aged, varnish-like hops. Sour plum, weak cheese, old granny smith apples, saline, belly burn. It's good, but I've never really fallen in love with Beautification. It's just a little rough & indecisive.
