MicroGrog	3.9 Schramm's Blackberry Clear 375ml bottle from Grapevine B&W. Baby Duvel glass @home. Clear, still, black cherry pour with purple highlights & some weak little legs. Smell is veggie, lush honey, deep grape jam with lots of berry skin astringency & a touch of heat. Taste is tart, non-descript berry upfront with a veggie & citrus honey coated middle, becoming vinous astringent with some marzipan on the long tail before the half-hearted earthy attempt to dry out. Too sweet upfront but nicely balanced on the backside. Wife tastes honey wine upfront & grape juice in the back. The blackberry doesn't give me much besides lovely jam to contemplate. Little to indifferent amount of wax, lush to pithy contrast front to back, low heat. Tasty. Friday, February 16, 2024

bluejacket74	4.4 Schramm's Black Agnes - Gin Barrel Aged 375 ml waxed and corked bottle. Served in a Schramm's chalice, the mead pours a dark reddish/purple color. Aroma is nice, the mead smells like black currants, floralness, citrus peel, gin, juniper berries, wood, honey, and earthiness. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some jammy dark berry flavors noticeable too. Tastes sweeter than it smells, but all the flavors are noticeable even though I do think the dark berry/black currant flavors stand out somewhat in comparison to the others. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's coating and rich with no carbonation. I liked this mead a lot, but then I'm a big fan of Schramm's and the regular Black Agnes in general. bluejacket74	4.7 Schramm's The Heart of Darkness 187 ml wax capped and corked bottle, Batch #9. Served in a Schramm's snifter, the mead pours a dark reddish/purple color. I like the aroma a lot, the mead smells like cherries, raspberries, black currants, honey and some earthiness. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also a hint of floralness too. It's fruity, sweet and jammy, but with a nice tart kick too. Lots and lots of flavor! Mouthfeel/body is full, it's slick and syrupy with pretty much no carbonation. I thought this was an excellent mead, definitely worth trying if you ever get the chance! Monday, December 25, 2023

No booze. Excellent honey character doesn't smell too sugary. Warm bread and honey with black pepper phenolics and earthy notes leading to moderately spicy ginger. Never gets hot (spice or alcohol), and the honey reprises on the finish with a soft, succulent, comfortingly, moderately-sweet character. Monday, December 25, 2023

I like the aroma, the mead smells like honey, vanilla, floralness, ginger and some rye spice. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with some oak and earthy flavors noticeable too. The ginger flavor is stronger to me, but it doesn't overwhelm the other flavors either. Nice and flavorful! Mouthfeel/body is full, it's rich and slick, and very enjoyable to drink. I liked the regular Lord Jim a lot and this version is pretty good too, recommend this more to people who like ginger. Thursday, November 9, 2023

To me the fruitiness stands out, it's a sweet, fruity tasting mead for sure. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and a bit syrupy.
