Gilded Otter Belgian Tripel
On draught at the brewpub. Arrived a hazy gold with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the first two sips and leaves partial lace. Mild aroma of Belgian yeast. The flavor is predominantly Belgian yeast with a mild malt and a bit of caramel. The Belgian yeast lingers on the palate well after these was allow. Very mild bitterness. Medium bodied.

Gilded Otter Belgian Spring Wit
Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a semi-cloudy yellow color with a very small white foamy head. Quickly falls off and lets in some light stringy lace. The aroma had some bananas, light coriander then a sweet malted wheatiness. Light grassy hops enter in for some bittering purposes, but they’re super light. The flavor lends a hand to the sweet side of the previously mentioned aromas barely touching the spice. The hops also seem a bit distant in this department. Sly malty sweet wheat in the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt fine. Malted wheaty smoothness feels good along my tongue. Overall, decent Americanized witbier that would be worthy of crushing in the Summer.

Gilded Otter Winter Wassail
Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass at the brewpub. The appearance was a dark red color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head, somewhat foamy and sustaining. Some sliding lace. The aroma had some clove, light breadiness, some nuts, light woodiness, vanilla extract and ends with a light earthiness. The flavor blends all of the previously mentioned aromas together, somewhat sweet and dry with a touch of spice. Mostly sweet aftertaste with a quick sweet nutty to vanilla and clove-like finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Once again, the spice is tame enough to not distract in the harshness along my tongue. ABV seemed reasonable for what the brewer projected. Overall, pretty nice winter warmer worthy of having again. Recommend to fans of the style when in season.

Gilded Otter Chief Matsaysay Porter
Reviewed from notes. Growler share with somebody, sorry I forget who, but whoever you are, pm me and I’ll plug your name in here. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a fairly dark brown close to black color with a steady finger’s worth of eggshell white foamy head that dissipated at a good pace. Lingering messy lace. The aroma had some roasty coffee bean up front, pretty bold and robust with some light milk chocolate maltiness wanting to balance. Light caramel. The flavor blends the roasty coffee bean to the chocolate maltiness. However, it ends up creating a fairly imbalanced aftertaste of the milk chocolate pummeling this part of the beer. What happened to the roast? Well, that blows monkey chunks. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Good carbonation and the ABV felt as appropriate as projected by the brewer. Overall, for the most part, it’s a pretty good porter even if the aftertaste wasn’t what I expected it to be. I’d still have again.

Gilded Otter Nut Brown Ale
Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark muddy brown color with just a film of a little white head. Sly lace. The aroma had a nice blend of roasted nuts, toast, earthiness, cereal and a nice caramel/toffee malt backbone. The flavor leaned towards the sweet side initially and then opened up with the roast, earthiness and then a touch of hay. Crisp semi-roasty/malty sort of aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt good. Overall, nicely done English styled brown ale worthy of having again.

Gilded Otter Black -n- Blue
Tap at the source. Pours black sort of blue. Blueberries in it. Blueberry kind of drowns this one out. Some chocolate and malt, but blueberry heavy. Flavor is ehh. Blueberry, some roasted malt, The back porch is better. The Stout is so light bodied that it actually ruins this. Shame.

Gilded Otter Back Porch Summer Lager
Tap at the source. Pours light golden, clear, white head. It has blueberries in it. One of them keeps going up and down within the glass. Interesting. Aroma is blueberry muffin. Yep. Flavor is crisp lager, blueberry. Actually a good blueberry beer. Way better than like blue point blueberry ale. And the blueberries in it are sweet. I kinda dig it. It’s honest about what it is, that’s for sure.

On draught at the Gilded Otter. Arrved to the table a lightly hazed pale gold with a very thin white head that left scant lace. Mild aroma of malt and not much else. The flavor is malt and lager yeast with just a bit of black pepper in the finish. Mild bitterness at the finish. Light-medium bodied.

Served in a shaker light hazy golden with half inch of head. First sip is piney with a lingering dryness. Second sip pulls a little maltiness and then the hoppiness. Not to much depth, but feels like a solid single hop. Solid beer from a small NY brewpub. Come stop by.
