On draught at the Gilded Otter. Arrved to the table a lightly hazed pale gold with a very thin white head that left scant lace. Mild aroma of malt and not much else. The flavor is malt and lager yeast with just a bit of black pepper in the finish. Mild bitterness at the finish. Light-medium bodied.

Gilded Otter Three Pines IPA
Served in a shaker light hazy golden with half inch of head. First sip is piney with a lingering dryness. Second sip pulls a little maltiness and then the hoppiness. Not to much depth, but feels like a solid single hop. Solid beer from a small NY brewpub. Come stop by.

Gilded Otter Stumpkin
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/29/12

Aroma: In the nose the spice from the pumpkin comes out over the roast from the stout
Appearance: It looks pretty much just like the Cream Stout (brown color without much head or lace)
Flavor: In the flavor the stout components do a great job of taming the sweetness of the pumpkin
Palate: The feel is mostly creamy, and quite smooth, with a really quality mouthfeel similar to the stout
Overall Impression: Iím not 100% sure this was an actual beer and not just a Pumpkin Black & Tan made at the bar, but maybe they brewed them together? Anyway, it was an excellent combo of the two and my favorite thing I tried at Gilded Otter.

Appearance: This beer pours a brown color without much head or lace
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, with the sweet coming out a bit more over the roast
Palate: The body is decently creamy, and it drinks nicely with a pretty solid feel it
Overall Impression: I thought this one was a pretty good creamy and sweet stout. It was plenty tasty, and worked just fine for what it was trying to be.

Gilded Otter Clove Valley Pumpkin Ale
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/29/12

Aroma: This one has a spice and rather sweet nose, with pumpkin, clove, and nutmeg all present
Appearance: It pours a clear copper color, with pretty much no head or lace
Flavor: The taste is sweeter then the average in this style, with some spice flavors as well
Palate: This one feels clean and creamy, with a light-medium body, and a fairly short duration
Overall Impression: I found this one to be a rather sweet but still pretty good example of style. It isnít an amazing offering, but it has a nice feel, and it certainly works.

Appearance: This one pours a clear orange color, with white head and lace
Flavor: This one has a dry, medium-plus bitter flavor to it that is similar to the nose
Palate: The body is medium, it has a decent drinkability to it, and a fairly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid not wonderful IPA, which is pretty much along the lines of how I felt about most of the Gilded Otter beers (compared to their respective styles) that I have reviewed thus far.

Gilded Otter Rail Trail Pale Ale
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/29/12

Aroma: This one has a citrus/orange nose with some floral notes as well
Appearance: Pours a clear copper color, with a white head and heavy white lace

Palate: This beer has a fairly clean, and pretty smooth feel, a soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is a solid, but unremarkable example of the style. There isnít a ton more to say here. I didnít love it, but it is plenty drinkable.

Gilded Otter Ottertoberfest
Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 9/29/12

Aroma: The nose has some toasted malts, biscuity notes, and mild caramel
Appearance: It pours a clear copper color with a white head, and heavy white lace
Flavor: The taste of the beer is fairly malty, and it has an average sweetness to it
Palate: This one has a light body to it, a cleanish feel, and some pretty good drinkability
Overall Impression: I wasnít overly impressed, but for a brewery like this and a style like this, this beer is fine. (On another, completely random note: oddly the lace here and on the Huguenot Street and the Rail Trail all looked pretty much identical.)

2.9
Gilded Otter Belgian Spring Wit
In short: A typical spicy wit that is unfortunately a bit thin-watery. Boring
How: Tap at Tap-NY 2012
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose has some bananas, wheat and some coriander. Body is a bit on the thin side, almost watery. Wheat and its friendly refreshing acidity companion, some orange peels, some coriander, some bananas (but less than in the aroma). Rather tasty despite the thin body. The flavor elements are there and well balanced, this good be a pretty decent wit if it had more body. But as it is, it is quite boring. One of the less good beer I had at the festival but it didnít stop me from smiling and joking around, oh man how Iíd really like to hang out with the person Iím pretending to be in public.
