Martinsh	3.2 Beowulf Brim Cask at Harp, Albrighton. Pours golden yellow with a medium sized foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly floral hops with some hints of citrus. In the mouth it starts off quite bitter with a creamy texture but with some underlying sweetness that gradually increases. Flavour is a blend of traditional and floral hops with peel and stone fruits. Later there are traces of tropical fruit and marmalade, leading to a bitter and sticky finish. It’s reasonable. jjsint	3.3 Beowulf Zwodder Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester. It pours mid- to dark gold, clear with a small frothy white head. Light scent of grass, herbs, a touched of spiced orange peel. Taste is quite bitter almost immediately with a fairly harsh bitter finish, all other characteristics disappearing except for light caramel in the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. It's pretty basic stuff but served in very good condition bringing out its best. Thursday, January 4, 2024
downender	3.4 Beowulf Dark Raven Cask-conditioned at the Lime Kiln Bristol 3/10/2023. Deep brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Aroma of chocolate, brown sugar and some damson sweetness. Easy drinking, with flavours of chocolate, more berries and a trace of liquorice before a gentle finish. Good. Monday, November 27, 2023
Martinsh	3.5 Beowulf Black Cherry Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours dark burgundy with a small cream head. There’s cherries and biscuits in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy, though some sharpness creeps in after a while. Flavour is predominantly black cherries, though with some roasted malts and hints of coffee and underlying caramel. Finish is fruity and slightly dry. This is a decent flavoured porter. Tuesday, October 31, 2023

Chocolate fudge, some dark malts, a touch of liquorice and a metallic note to the aroma so definite mixed bag there. Sweet taste, some Tootsie roll fudginess, a bit of of red grape. Light hoppy bitterness in the finish with berry notes. Soft carbonation, light to medium body. Decent. Thursday, April 20, 2023

Bitter and intensely roasty in-mouth, with hints of smokiness, and a lengthy finish echoing the liquid taste. Full bodied with an engaging texture. Utterly exquisite. Saturday, April 8, 2023

Earthy malts on the nose, lightly smoked. Fine blended taste of chocolate malts, earth, and distant dried fruits. Roasted, slightly smoked, dark malt-driven finish. Pleasing. In the mouth the hops are more bitter though there is an underlying sweetness. Texture is quite juicy with grians to the fore plus ints of citrus and corn. Finish is bitter and slightly sticky. Taste is sweet, more ripe citrus, astringent hops in the long finish. Slick oily body with kumquat peel bitterness lingering in the aftertaste. A very British pale ale. Nice. Caramel and compost in the aroma with a touch of what could be interpreted in mango.sweet taste, a bit cloying with some serious bitterness on the back half. This proved to be a touch weird in character, there are certainly Black Cherry flavours but with a smoky, coffee grounds flavour alongside. Tastes somewhat raw, unrefined. Martinsh	3.2 Beowulf Wuffa Surprised I haven’t rated this before as the name sounds very familiar. Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with minimal off-white head. There’s summer fruits and apples in the aroma. In the mouth it’s floral hops with autumn fruits and biscuits. Later on there is some bitterness and hints of ginger. Finish is slightly bitter and sticky. This is reasonable. Not sure about calling it a “best bitter” though – more a pale or golden ale. Friday, September 9, 2022
Martinsh	2.9 Beowulf Wergild Cask (lager) at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a pale straw with a small off-white head. Some floral hops and traces of corn in the aroma. There’s fairly high but soft carbonation in the mouth. Overall it’s sweet with malts and lemon rind. Later on some bitterness becomes evident and this increases in the finish. Martinsh	3.4 Beowulf Chase Buster Finally – a review from outside Scandinavia ! Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a bright golden yellow with a small white head. The nose is sweet with vague hints of lemon and apple. The sweetness continues into the mouth, with a fruitiness which can be narrowed down to a mishmash of apples and other summer fruits. Later on floral hops come into play along with some hints of ginger. Finish is dry and bitter. This is a good solid beer. Sunday, June 19, 2022
