Bottle Stop

On the road directly leading west from the town centre, passing the fish and chip shop just as you leave it, it's a 10 minute walk or a minutes drive. In a split level shop unit, wine occupies most of the front of the shop, with the bottles taking up most of the space on the shelves on the platform area at the rear, although given my visit was just before Christmas there was a number of German seasonal beers on show just below the counter. There's a lot of familiar continental brews here from Belgium and Germany, all very worthwhile though, but it's the plethora of local microbreweries represented here in both bottle and can that makes this a fantastic place to stock up on the latest specials being brewed in Cheshire and this part of Greater Manchester. The price of the brews in here are much lower than I've seen in most other shops in recent months.

Smart little shop on a housing estate. Good mix of craft, traditional and foreign beers. Prices are keen and the staff are friendly, never had any trouble with servivce in the times Ive visited over the years.

Beer & wine shop. Interesting selection including beers I've not seen elsewhere. Plenty of European & world beers, I managed to pick up a good few new country ticks here. Very reasonable prices. The lady that runs the place needs to crack a smile though, she is super miserable, and there is zero customer engagement

The choice is generally good if variable. Prices are excellent with lots under the £3 mark with the same beer often being far dearer in other shops. Lots of beers are from the northwest and pennines which is good and theres a good range of european ones. Service depends on who serves you but on occasion it hasn’t been the best.

Been going here for a few years now and still my favorite in greater manchester. Very good selection, with something new to try on most visits. I get on well with the owner now, but did take a while. Prices are fantastic, and after visiting the beermoth this weekend, made me appreciate how cheap it really is

Best bottle shop in greater manchester very cheap, perhaps cheapest in uk mostly European beers but that suits me fine. Selection is vast but without any rarities. I really like this place.

Went here after a visit to our Cheadle office, I did not have any rudeness like the last reviewer, perhaps I fitted there profile of a preferred customer! Beers and shop in general nicely presented. Staff had little knowledge or enthusiasm for beer. Good selection, summer wine, de molen, buxton, marble, rogue. Nothing too amazing but far better than an average off licence

Why are they so rude? Great shop for beer. Shame you have to be rich to get any respect. Orval for 1.80! If you’re passing and you’re a huge beer geek you might not find something new. You will find something you like in there though. Marble beers, the awesome Aventinus, couple of American beers (not much) some English, decent Belgian selection. And some..world beers. Toss lager. Worth a visit. It did take me 6 or 7 years to get a hello but there is absolutely fucking nowhere else.

Stockport is far from being a beer mecca. Aside from pubs there really is no where to buy good beer. Thankfully, there is the Bottle Stop. Huge selection including lots of standard Belgians (but only decent ones) and a few random / more obscure bottles, very good English / UK selection, a few bits from Germany and the U.S. (nothing special though) and some rest of the world crap lagers. The prices are what really amaze me in this place though. JW Lees Harvest, EDITION ONE!!! Paradox and Hardys Ale for just over £2, honestly I kid you not, the Belgians are equally well priced, I recently picked up a 2004 Van De Keizer for £4.95. They also have some good take away draught beers from time to time. Gouden Carolus Noel was on for Christmas this year. Oh and there is usually a selection of really really good cheese. This place would be worthy of top marks but sadly the staff are a bloody disgrace. There are two people in there who are really pleasant and helpful, the owner being one of them. The rest of them are downright rude, to the point of being completely ignorant. If it wasn’t that I was worried about getting a ban, I would have had strong words far too often. As it is, I get my beers, clear off and thank god my mum and dad taught me good manners.
