t0rin0  (1528) Do Not Resuscitate, California | March 24, 2014
Visited March 23, 2014.

Finally stopped in after driving by half a dozen times over the years and since this is on the way back to 57 from Bootlegger’s. It’s a small unassuming store in a run down shopping center at the corner of Ramond and Commonwealth. Surprise surprise it looks crappy. The best stores always do. I used to hear about how these guys are about the only ones that would get enough Knuckle Sandwich but for what ever reason I never stopped in to pick some up. Oh well, I’m here now.

They’ve got a few fridge doors full of beer and some on the shelves. The stuff in the fridges is pretty random. Only two of the doors have good stuff in them and one of the two doors is dedicated entirely to California-made beers. The other has a bit of California overflow and some random imports like Fullers, Samuel Smith, Schlenkerla, Asahi, and Innstadt, but not many Belgians. Westmalle Dubbel, Barbar, and Scotch de Silly are about the only ones. The other fridges have some six packs and tall cans, though mixed in with the six packs you’ll find some good stuff like Lagunitas Day Time IPA. Not really worth driving a long way for but not bad for a quick stop on the way home from Bruery or downtown Fullerton.

Yet another unassuming spot for craft beer. You would think from the outside this place is just another dumpy liquor store. The craft beer is split up into six packs and singles. The six packs are in the right corner on the far wall and there is only one door of them. I didn’t really check them out too much as I was not interested in purchasing six packs. The BMC beers are to the left of the sxers and then there are about four doors full of craft/imported singles, and then another two around the corner. Pretty decent selection of Belgian and German imports. A rather interesting mix of American craft. Nothing too hard to find, but offerings from Stone, Double Dead Guy, some Avery, some DFH, some AleSmith Sierra, and limited Lost Abbey offerings. Good prices (I usually see the Double Dead Guy for 15, they were selling it for 11 and change). Most beers were "average" price although (like I mentioned) there were a few "steals". The service was not all that great (I wasn’t even greated when I walked in), but I generally don’t mind that as I know what I’m looking for. A nice little store to stop in if you’re nearby, but not the best I’ve ever been to.

Was staying in Orange Cty and just looking for a place to grab a brew or two for the hotel at night. I scored a Pizza Port Hop 15 and a Goose Island Bourbon County (had to travel all the way to the WC to get a beer from back east when I’m from the EC myself!). I also saw a Pizza Port Older Viscosity and some other beers from Stone, Alaskan, Kona and others. Some decent Germans and Belgians, too. A real hole in the wall place, but not a bad place to pick up some good brews. Prices seemed more than reasonable, but have no perspective of other local prices.

Very happy to find Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout here! They carry both local brewers - the Bruery, and Bootleggers, but I agree with others in saying that their selection is not as big as they claim. However they seem to know what unique stuff to carry and try and track down. Worth the stop if you head to Fullerton to visit the breweries in town.

Decent selection of singles, not out of the ordinary. Pretty much walked in and walked out.

They advertise 400 beers, but they must be counting total number of bottles and not types. I would say they carry more like 150 different beers. Still it is better than your average store and had a few nice ones like Pizza Port Hop 15 and Old Viscosity. You’re better off going to Hollingshead though.

A small stop on a Disneyland visit, great beer selection, sells bottles individually, got 18 new ones. Owner could show a bit more interest as his sign reads "400 Beers" but is not very servicable. Overall, worth the drive.

This place is a total hole in the wall. Basically, it’s just a small liquor store that has a small section of harder to find beer. In fact, this place had the common "corner liquor store" vibe that I thought I went to the wrong place. But sure enough, they do have a quaint little beer section. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here as Hollinghead, Hi Times and BevMo all have better selections, but it’s nice if you just stumble upon it. They have Stones, AleSmiths, Rochefort 8/10, Rogue and Old Rasputin. Not too shabby.
