76 When I visited: Mid-October 2014.
What I had: Pint of Block Three Blocktoberfest; flight of Sawdust City Ol’ Woody Alt, Block Three Iron Horse Dunkel, Nickel Brook Cause & Effect Blonde, Grand River E-I-E-I OPA, and Nickel Brook Naughty Neighbour Pale Ale; Cave Springs Sauvignon Blanc for the Mrs.; some Beet Carpaccio for the table.
What I liked: Laidback and inviting cafe-like atmosphere, plenty of seating available, easily visible chalkboard tap list, great crowd, warm service, love the fact that they do flights, I enjoyed most of my beers.
What I disliked: At six taps the beer lineup is well-selected but limited, no cask to my knowledge, the Carpaccio didn’t do much for us, server messed up one of our drink orders.
Would I go back? Yes. Despite its flaws Imbibe was the second-best bar that we hit on our K-W tour.

96 Great place with 6 rotating taps, all micro and always changing.

78 Finally, a place to get good microbrew in Kitchener. They have a small number of taps, but they contain some "non-LCBO" beers, which is a huge plus. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. I was a little confused by the appearance of some of the beers being served (but consumed by others); "Crazy Canuck" was very dark - nearly black - even though when I’ve had it from a can it’s been distinctly yellow. Flying Monkeys Amber also didn’t look *quite* right to me, but I can’t say for sure it was wrong. This makes me concerned that maybe the handles are switched, or that they got a different beer altogether from the brewery and are labelling it wrong. Maybe just some initial hickups (the palce is very new). Regardless, I will be returning here for sure. |
84 A very new place that I have been to several times now. In the location of the old Cafe M, part of the Museum in downtown Kitchener (aka one of the better things about downtown Kitchener). Somewhat small location but I like the vibe, and the staff are great. They also have a decent espresso machine so after dinner coffee, or something to perk you up a bit before going home is a good option. The tap selection is limited right now but still fantastic for the area. Sooner than later they will be bringing in specials and seasonals that wouldn’t be found anywhere else. Food menu is small but they have a decent kitchen and make worthwhile dishes, though for me personally I view this primarily as a beer bar. Currently the best beer spot in Kitchener, and with the potential to grow and retain that title for years to come. |
74 brand new place in kitchener. all craft ontario taps, including one offs from Grand River, F&M, and Wellington. great, knowledgable staff, $6 pints. best place in kitchener, probably the best in all of KW when the tap lineup is good. |
