84 Large one room boozer not far from Leytonstone station. Easily the best pub in the area. Good varied range of cask & keg. Some focus on locally produced beers but always something from further afield. Large outdoor space out back which is partially covered

80 Definitely the best pub in Leytonstone. |
90 Superb place to be any time of the day, caters for all age groups. Super atmosphere and great beers from craft brewers from all around the country. Fresh food served daily which looks very good. Great staff here too, very helpful, best pub by far in E11. Outside drinking area. Tie it in with a Brodies session in E10, W16 bus; worth a visit |
80 A very nice, airy boozer with a respectable line-up. You’ll find a nice mix of classical cask beers, modern keg and a mix of UK and international stuff in bottles. Prices are average, service is fine. This place is literally on the other side of London from me so I wouldn’t get here on the reg, but it is somewhat in the vicinity (it’s all relative) of King William IV. Worth a visit if you’re nearby. |

80 The Red Lion’s a quality pub located close to Leytonstone station. The place is owned by Antic, and they’ve done a good job at tastefully refurbishing this into an inviting venue. The pub’s quite spacious. The decoration’s pretty typical of most aspirational pubs these days (humorous taxidermy, restored wooden fixtures, leather sofas etc). The service is kind, professional. The selection’s surprisingly good. There’s around 10 casks offering a range of stuff from various southern micros. There’s 10 keg options, 5 of which were beers from Magic Rock. The bottle selection’s solid. There’s maybe 40 beers, nothing crazy. I didn’t try the food, but it looked tasty, and many people were eating. The value’s fine by London standards. Overall, this is worth a look in if you’re in east London. It’s not far from Stratford by train, so it could be worked into a crawl. I’d come here often if it was located in my patch of London. |
100 The Red Lion is a class act in an area that really needed a decent pub. The selection of drinks on offer is second to none and hard to beat anywhere in London, always in perfect condition. The main focus is on local breweries (Brodies, ELB, Redemption, Redchurch, Camden etc..) but you can often find beers from further afield such as Summerwines Brewery, Otley, Thornbridge, Magic Rock, Grain, Fat Cat, Dark Star, Purity, to name but a few. With 10 hand pumps you’re well and truly spoilt for choice. They also have 5 guest kegs on that often feature some rare American craft beers seldom seen this side of the pond. During my recent visit they had Odells’ IPA, Great Divide Rumble IPA and Yeti Imperial stout. My only gripe is that some of the beers are a little pricey but that’s understandable when you consider the cost of importing them. Generally the price of cask ale is very reasonable and they offer 10% off with a CAMRA membership. All in all this is an excellent addition to the rapidly growing London drinking scene. If only more landlords had as much passion for their trade we might not have so many pubs closing . Well done The Red Lion, keep up the good work. |
