8 Not a beer destination. At all. More like a place to spend your alimony payment. If you're hitting all the 90 and up scores in LA, this place does not belong. It's a rigmarole location, the parking is sub-optimal, the staff is curl-lipped and the prices are Westwood. For the hell of getting here in the afternoon and to find no beers worth mentioning, to the frou-frou environs and the inflated score, I left pissed off. UPDATE January 2019: Permanently Closed |
78 Small, but well-curated selection. Helpful staff, but not knowledgeable. Some nice picks from California. |
74 More of a wine and liquor shop than a beer store (and selection of those seemed to be good, but that’s not really my area). Shop was clean and well maintained. Wine tasting going on at the time so I was not paid much attention to. It’s not so much that their selection is that vast but it is high quality. Goose Island Bourbon Stout, AleSmith Speedway Stout, a selection of Great Divide Yetis, Belgians, Stone, Deschutes Abyss, beers from across the country, Imports. Prices are well marked, you can by singles, and seemed pretty reasonable for the area. |

60 Maybe like 100 bottles, at the most, but well thought out selection. Not that impressive compared to many bottles in SD. I was fine with the lack of huge selection, but what I didn’t like was the service. OMG, are the people working here hired because they lack common sense. Won’t say what happened to us, but end result was a cashier saying "I bet I found that a lot funnier than you did". I wouldn’t say don’t stop, but I would say just don’t go out of your way. |
54 This is the best bottle shop in Los Angeles? I’m not so sure I get that. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing really wrong with it, but why do people think it’s so great? There’s not a large, or even moderately sized beer selection; in fact, the beer selection is small. I found some Prairie Ales here, which was the saving grace in this whole thing. At one point I counted 5 or 6 people behind the counter, and not one of them asked me if I needed help. I never would actually need help, but it’d be nice to know that someone appreciates your business. Anyways, there are a couple of things here that you may not find somewhere else, but if you’re looking to find a large and varied selection, don’t go here. I don’t give a fuck about the liquor selection, as I don’t drink that stuff too terribly often to care. |
88 So this place has more wine and spirits than beer, but the beer selection is very nice and thoughtful. The service here is top notch. I was very impressed with the place overall. |
88 Nice looking classy wine, liquor and beer shop. Great selection of all three. I had the family in the car and ran in wanting to get a case of mixed beers shipped to me. Manuel who assisted me was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Being in a hurry I wasn’t able to savor the selection, but I found a nice assortment of west coast beers that are not available locally to me, and of course many other beers that are available to me locally. Prices were reasonable, but selection quite good.Their beer buyer is definitely doing her homework. I paid for my selections and filled out some forms and my beers were shipped to me. 12 beers in 10 minutes. |
84 Great wine selection
US beer selection is very very good
Belgian selection good
Other europeans ok to good |
88 The staff there is very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Pretty good selection--spent probably 30mins. just trying to wrap my head around all the options before finally selecting something. Be sure and ask for something if you don’t see it up front--they keep some bottles in the back. |
