72 Not your typical beer bar. Big and airy with a Scandinavian flair. It actually is more restaurant than bar but has a small but amazing selection of European, mostly Scandinavian beers. The draft list does have a few bummers on it but not unusual for a newer place. Brunch was great and so were the beer cocktails. |
70 Cool new spot that I stumbled upon (although I had heard of it before) while walking through the East Village recently. A very bright, airy space with a large bar dominating the center of the room. Lots of light wooden tables around the outside. The beer selection isn’t huge, but the quality is great and there are a few things here that you’ll not find anywhere else. There is a fair bit of mead on offer as well as some more obscure spirits if you’re into that. I didn’t eat while I was in, but the menu looks fairly solid. Service could have been a lot better though - two bartenders serving a bar with 6-8 patrons means I shouldn’t have to wait 10 minutes for someone to ask if I need anything. The guy is clearly a bit of a snob too - I don’t have a problem with someone taking their work seriously but I do have a problem with them preaching about the quality of coffee for five minutes to someone who just asked for a cup of coffee and didn’t ask for clarification. Anyway - I digress. This is a great little spot and one that I hope succeeds. |
