Will add my praise to this amazing place. Went on a Friday afternoon. Place was pretty dead (everyone was outside in the garden). Very punk rock, 50 taps, very few of which I'd seen anywhere else (and with Untappd lack of check-ins to verify). Most stuff was very local and it was the top-notch local brewers / cideries - Moonraker, Almanac, Mission Trail, etc. Bottles are small but again, some good local rarities there. They do half-pours of everything. Basically this place is for beer lovers by people who obviously love beer. I get why they're rated so highly. Might go Mikkeller above it, but if in Oakland, would have a tough call between here and Trappist.

Now THIS is the kind of beer bar i truly enjoy-almost has a grunge/punk/metal vibe to it with a nice tap list and a cooler with drink on premise or take home brews. Beer selection is top notch for this area and hard to beat. This is just down the street from a good concert venue where my buddy took me before the show. This place is hard to beat.

Easily the best place on this side of the Bay. 50 taps of phenomenal quality - tons of high gravity and barrel aged stuff. No flights or small pours, but they will let you sample certain beers. Beers range from $6-10 per pour - you can do half pours for $2 less. Staff is decently friendly. Bottle selection is also fantastic. Mandatory stop when in OAK/SF.

Visited late afternoon on a Monday. Located in Jack London Square area of downtown Oakland, easy to find just off of Broadway. Parking is street, and I would imagine could get limited at times. There is an outdoor patio you walk across to enter, with table seating. Interior is a long bar on the right hand side, with tables and bottle coolers to the left. Narrow room, though space to maneuver. Beer selection, both on draft and in the coolers is incredible. Draft is 50 or so very well chosen drafts with a focus on top craft producers throughout the world. The bottle selection is even more impressive, with 8 cooler doors of crazy beers. Local and sought after national. Really good vibe, beautiful day on the patio. I wish I could have bottle shopped. I ended up visiting twice during my week in Oakland.

88 = ★★★★ (best in area, a must for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.

Second visit of the day, right after visiting Pacific Coast Brewing. Not busy on Monday afternoon, almost all the rest customers were sitting outside since the weather was very nice. I loved the dive bar ambiance inside. A lot of taps with many interesting beers and many bottles for take away and to drink on site. Good service and good prices. Dont know if there is any food.

Kind of a "dive" bar. Outside seating available. Great tap selection of mainly California beers. Very large selection of bottles to go or drink in house with a $1 up charge. Service was great and prices seemed in line with the area. You should visit.

Sometimes the guys are not so friendly, but this place is still legit. Fucking great selection, good prices, and awesome vibe. Death metal is playing 90% of the time. Seriously though get some lights in your drink fridge. WTF. Seating is cool and they let you bring in any outside food

Visited on a Friday afternoon in November 2015. It’s a couple of blocks from Jack London Square, has security on the door at 3pm and looks like a converted house with bars on the window and a small deck out front that catches the afternoon sun just right. Step into the dark interior and it strikes me as the place Toronado so wants to be. Loud music, a huge and interesting tap list and a good range of bottles in the fridge. Seems they have a delivery of Pliny at 2.30pm every Thursday that’s gone in 24hrs. Service was good, prices decent. A great bar and worth the trip over the bay.

Stopped by beer revolution on March 22nd for my friends birthday celebration. This wasn’t the first time I’ve been there, and after the great time we had on Sunday I’m for sure to be coming back over and over. Sunday’s are a great day to go especially because they close at a reasonable time, forcing you to make it to work Monday morning hahah. It’s way too easy to get carried away there with the large selection of beer and great service to back it up. There’s even a fridge for bottled beer selections. Which makes me really happy because there’s usually a stock of Pliny the elder! The main area is large and roomy enough to accommodate a large crowd and outdoor patio, which is pet friendly! Bathrooms are of the typical bar bathroom so always be wary, which no offense to anyone. I just feel that with drinking and restrooms always gets sketch hah. Overall, my friend had a great celebration at beer revolution and the staff played a huge part in that. I’d like to really thank Rebecca for taking such great care of us and can’t wait to go back again!
