Francis Beer Café

We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th January 2024. This place will be synonymous with Loz leaving her bag and us having to stay another night in Pilsen. It was closed when we realised what had happened but the barmaid who served us chased us down the road to tell us it would be open the following day at approx' 5pm. It is very, very central, opposite the cathedral/church on the main square and just around the corner from KEGzistence. It is a small place that you access through an alley that the opens out into a small courtyard, the bar is on the left. It's a small place, the beer choice is on a chalkboard to the side of the bar. It was pretty cold in here and we stayed for just one beer, the decor was a little spartan, it had that appearance that it was modelled from second hand furniture, nothing wrong with that just wish it would have been warmer. Beer choice was fine but easily bettered by Kegzistence. Fine but not my favourite, although the barmaid was wonderful.

Nice modern beer-bar in a very traditional Czech courtyard, just off the main-square (námestí republiky), Plzenský Prazdroj on tap ( You are in Plzen!) plus three other (often Czech) taps; for greedy beer-geeks quite a small but nice selection of rarities is hidden in a fridge. Pleasant place, nice courtyard!

Worth a hit this one ..4 craft on ..plenty in the fridge too...

Update: Well, visited it a few times after that. Just wanted to point out that the tiny fridge generally contains well curated specialty stuff from across the world - like, dunno, Stigbergets and Bevog last time, some Americans before etc, which is, I believe, fairly unique for Plzen, and it should be appreciated for it! July 2019 A small place in a nice inside courtyard by the main square. Likely gets extremely cramped in the winter. Only four taps, Urquell being one of them, but the selection on the others was well varied (Raven Strawberry Weisse, Plzenský Bandita Pšenicne on Steroids, and something else I've had I guess). Magnetic Cider selection in the fridge, some other stuff. The barman knew his beers well, spoke very good English and did his job right, props! Well, you'll definitely be passing nearby if you're nearby and this is definitely a good beergeek place, worth a short stop/detour if centrally.

Friendly place with a nice patio on the main square. Limited but solid beer list. Knowledgable service. Good stop in the city center.
