The best beer selection on long island....possibly in all of new york, with great rotating variety, a dozen + taps, and reasonable prices

Great shop with tons of growler tap lines. Great selection of bottles from most everywhere, although some bottles are a bit old, so be careful when shopping for IPA’s

Wow!!!!! Okay I can not believe what this place has become. Yes, full disclosure I am I am friends with the owner, became friends with him after I stumbled upon this gem of a store. He began to ask my opinion on what he should start doing/bringing in to make A&R Beverage a craft beer destination. Not just my opinion either, a lot of real beer lovers, who are much more knowledgeable than me. Needless to say, he is taking advice and doing everything right. You name it he has it or will get it for you. (Of course it needs to be available in NY......) Shelves and aisles are perfectly organized. 20 growler lines with amazing choices(lines kept clean), new coolers...oh man ......just go visit yourselves!!!! You won’t be disappointed.

Very well organized family run distributor about 100 yards west of the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway on Merrick. They have about 10 growler lines up now and will have about 8 more on before Thanksgiving. Look out for tastings (with free eats). Shop is very clean, huge and beyond well stocked. Only complaint was that the beers do need to laid out better either by region or style. But’s it’s a reason to wander around. This one came out of nowhere and will only get better from here. This week on tap they are going to have two Founders, Goose Island BCS, Brooklyn Coffee Stout, two Lagunitas and a few Stone’s left from the Sat tasting.

This place made me very happy. Not because the selection was full of ultra rare offerings from obscure brewers, but because I get to use a new term I learned from Dave: "Beer Museum". The shelves are organized perfectly to the point that I almost felt guilty buying something and messing up their organization. Lots of the standard American brewers such as Stone, Hair of the Dog, Rogue, Ommegang, Dogfish Head, etc. Anything from the same brewer will be together more or less, but the organization after that is beyond me. Good thing is they stock a wide variety from each brewer so you might be able to find something new from an old stand by brewer. Unfortunately, pricing was all over the place. There were some pretty decent deals and some pretty huge rip-offs.

I didn’t ask about the BYO6 policy because I really don’t think they would have appreciated me putting so much disorganization into their store. However, they did have Hair of the Dog Ruth 12oz labeled individually ($5ea, $22/6 OUCH) Maybe I will ask on a later visit.

I recently moved to Massapequa and was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this BD. I have never seen a shop with taps set up and the ability to fill your own growler. They have a great selection of obscure beers and the staple microbrewed beers. Having recently gotten "The Beer Guide" for Christmas, this place has definitely allowed me to try the numerous beers myself. The only negatives are that they tend to carry a lot of fruity beers and or specialty brews (chocolate stout, etc) on draft and require a full growler fill each time. I don’t know about you, but I really do not want to drink a full growler of chocolate stout or raspberry flavored beers. Also, they need more coolers so you dont always have to buy the microbrews warm and wait for them to cool. The staff is cool though and the prices seem to be relatively fair.

This is a update. This place has REALLY come a long way. They always have the standards, like DFH, Stone, Unibroue, Corsendonk, Hopping Frog, etc. Lately, they’ve gone way out of their way to get stuff like Ithaca LeBleu, Cigar City, Captain Lawrence, Goose island. The prices are reasonable, sometimes a bargain. They are expanding greatly right now. They have aisle with beers from unusual places, and novelty items such as the giant bottles of Salvator, Arrogant Bastard, etc. They have a growler station with 6 taps, going up to 12, and they have some crazy stuff on tap. For local people, this is a great place. This place could easily be the equal of Big Z in the near future.
